Competition how did i do

i was at a local truck pull this weekend and everything went right unlike last time. i took third place in stock class. i got beat by a 04 duramax and a 2000 V8 dodge both were extended cab trucks. i think i had plenty of power but i only had smoke come out of my pipes when i took off and had 20 lbs of boost going down the track. does this sound about normal or is there something more i can do for next time. third place isnt to bad for my first time out though.

What gear did you pull in? A lower gear will = lower boost. FYI.

Dang tisdale, you in creeper? I never noticed that, boost was always buried, even back with the single 35/16!!

NO, I am in 4th low with my six speed. As soon as I can keep my head from lifting, I am going up a gear. Last time out, I made 45 psi, and the old girl peed a little coolant out of the head gasket.

Prolly was pulling 2nd low. My clutch wouldn't hold 3rd low. My truck always hit the governor, and then go to work when the sled came up. I need a better clutch to pull a better gear. If he was on the governor then the boost would be down.



Sounds like you pulled pretty well. Need a good clutch(ie mitchells) and a higher gear(3rd) to get around a new d-max. A buddy's dodge v10 auto would always outpull me. But he would never just go the ground speed I had too.



Mine just stays hooked to the trailer now. I'm scared of broken parts now

Broken parts? Oh, you mean like the rear pinion gear I lost last weekend pulling. Oh well, pay to play!

I have fear, specially when I drive a couple of hours to a pull, pull the pulling truck, and need to get home. My 200,000 mile, 11 yr old mule is showing its age. Besides it ain't worth hooking my old 5 spd against new late model high horse auto trucks. They will smoke me every time. But I can run with them down the interstate!!!

Hey Michael if you keep doing burn outs with that trailer hooked up you might be looking for a ring gear to . . That looked pretty cool the other day when you pulled out onto the track & turned up some dirt while rowing through the gears. You sure you can run with me down the interstate?Maybe we should have a tow rig drag race :-laf .

I think my broken parts had alot to do with a sled driver hitting the brakes the week before.

Yeah I can run with you down the interstate. Remember the speed limit is SUPPOSED to be 55 in Il and 65 in Iowa. I can pull with you at those speeds! Now if your talking much over 75 then I'll just let you win! Sure hate to show up your truck with the setup you have. :-laf



By the way, no tires were smoking so it wasn't a burn out, just lacking some traction!!



I tried to pull on Friday night, and was posponed due to rain. Went back Sunday to pull. Just before our class the sled broke and was unrepairable! Two weekends I have drove about 2. 5 hours and still haven't hooked yet this year.
