I think you need 4 quarts of synthetic lube 75 90 or 75 140 also 4 oz of limited slip fluid DC sells it so does amsoil. I use amsoil 75 140 8. 00 per quart, Im not a dealer. DC synthetic is 20. 00 per quart. Pull the cover jack each side of the axel to get it all out Black silicone for the seal.

change rear diff

You may want to wipe out the insides of the rear diff with paper towel this is another way of finding metal flakes and other pieces that may be there. What you are after is watching for signs of early failure. I use Mobil 75w/90 and more limited slip then they say and never had any problems with the clutches. They do say to do a bunch of figure 8's to mix the oils up.

Flush the housing and ring gear/pinion with a can of brake cleaner before filling. Let your sealant set up for an hour or two (I usually go overnight) before refilling. Pay attention to what your owner's manual says about fluid level; that seems to be more important than volume.

I changed my gear oil after about 10k miles from factory fill to Royal Purple Synthetic 85-140 and was I wouldn't need the addative. Sure enough I didn't need the addative, nor can I get the rear to lock up. I have since replaced it with amsoil 75-90 but I still can't get the rear to lock up. Now I wish I would have just stuck to the regular dino juice and additive.

Never use brake cleaner or any other solvent on bearings or critical metal surfaces. The solvent removes the oil film in the metals pores. Also, the solvent temporarly displaces the oil in the pores causing metal to metal startups.

Leaving the oil film on the gears and bearings is highly recommended. Let it drip overnight to get all out, but don't use a solvent to remove the residue.

I was using Royal Purple synthetic w/no problems. I had some regearing work done locally and the installer replaced the R. P. with Shafer(s. p. ) 85-140 and two tubes of friction modifier. When I make a tight turn now even with the camper the inside tire chirps! I've definately got enhanced limited slip now.

just had my rearend oil changed at jiffy lub but I had to go to pep boys amd pick up two 4-0z tubs of friction modifier for limited slip rear end

now when WE back up and turn the wheel its smooth

Dont go without the friction modifyer. I ran Amsoil 70W90 for about 70k with no problems, then started to feel the clutches chatter on turns. You could really feel it when stopped then making a turn. I replaced the fluid again with Amsoil but now with the modifyer and its back to normal.
