Hello,

I was hoping you folks could guide me threw the whole trans thing. I have searched the site but only get bits and pieces. I want to run high setting on my Smarty most of the time (except when plowing). What do I need to do and what products do you recommend without breaking the bank or getting me divorced? :-{} ;)

I know I need a new TC. Which One?

Do I need a new trans or will a valve body do the trick?

I do not tow all to often but I do plow snow.

Any Help would be great! My Truck is in my sig...

I had a SUN COAST VB&TC in my 04. 5 and it worked great. I had a Bully dog down loader and a 44 PSI wastgated turbo on it. I towed a 10K 5th wheel also. The Suncoast worked great.

Allthough I have the same stuff in my 06 and have a slight problem with the 2 to 3rd shift while going 25 MPH for long stretches. I suspect its a program problem, but not sure yet. It only seems to happen to the 05 and 06's.

All I can say is if you're going to upgrade your transmission, do it all at once. You will be glad you did, and it will save you labor costs if you don't bit and piece a system together. I would recommend DTT. Go to their website and read an article written by the owner Bill. He explains why doing just a TC/VB upgrade isn't the best move. Just my $. 02

what is the best move i want to do a tc and vb what else should i look at doing. No comments about BD diesel are ats yall recommend suncoast are dtt over them??

Some suggestions are NADP, Suncoast, DTT, Goerend, ATS, and Dunrite. Those are the major competitors... you decide which one best fits you.

I did a TCS tc and a flex plate ran that for a week than called Steve Troyan of TPS and did what I should have done in the first place, your going to pay to pull the transmission out regardless so might aswell do it all at once. I dont think you can just put a multi disc tc in without a vb and acheive good performance because mine under wot would dance thru the gears, didnt seem happy

ok i am not a transmission expert by far i know that i need to upgrade the tc and the vb at the same time what else should also be looking at upgrading

With an 06, the TC, VB, and 2nd band apply lever setup should do you. The thrust washer has already been upgraded. See my signature for my choice.

Billet input/output shafts and a flexplate

Have never heard one bad word about him or his product and I've been reading and researching for 7 years.
