Here's the problem: I need to mount a pair of lights to my Warn brush guard/winch carrier, but I can't use the optional Warn light bar with the winch. Thus I need some kind of clamp on platform or mount that I can attach to the 1 1/2" steel tube crossbar on the guard. Anybody got ideas? The lights are KC daylighter style housings.

Arcticat,

If it was me I would just drill and tap mounting holes wherever I wanted.

I propably have the same brush guard. You can mount lights into the sides of the vertical plates. You could weld/bolt stout angles on to those, mount lights. (Go down to your local electrical supply house and ak for some large Unistrut angles)
You could do a u-bolt/plate arrangement on the horizontal tubes (Lots of good hardware for these applications at the supply house , too. ) You could mount all kinds of angle or plates on your winch carrier too.
That's just a couple of thoughts on it.

Duct tape, hose clamps, ty-raps, baling wire- you just MIGHT be a redneck!

I have the same question for my Dodge grill guard. There are no tabs and the tubes are oval. I am thinking that I may end up mounting them to the vertical flat iron portion of the guard. Any one have any other ideas... ... By the way the guard is made of Alu and is powdercoated black.

This probably fits in the "redneck mount" catagory but will work #ad

Get some 1" flat steel stock and find a pipe of similar diameter to your brush guard to use as a form.

Cut a length of the 1" flat stock to the diameter of the grill guard pipe plus 2. 5"

Bend 1" of the stock on each end 90%

Use the pipe as a form and start beating/forming the 1" stock in the middle till it wraps around the pipe.

When it fits real nice, the tabs on each end should meet up face to face.

Drill a hole in the tabs large enough to fit the mounting post on the lights.

Cut a piece in bicycle innertube to fit the diameter of the brush guard pipe.

Bolt the lights on with your new mount. There should be enough "play" in the mount so the action of bolting on the lights clamps them to the pipe. The rubber gasket should keep them from slipping and protect the finish on the brush guard pipe.

I have a mopar brush guard and you can use the collapsable aluminum anchors. These anchors are used to hold the brackets from the bumper to the tube. They are also used to hold the tow mirrors to the door skins and grab handles to the A-pillar.

However you mount them, make sure they are solid and don't vibrate. I've made this mistake in the past.

WOWZY
