How do I open up the EVIC / map light console?

Could someone please let me in on the secret magic used to get into the EVIC console? I can't figure out how to pop it apart I want to get a 12v power source from there and for the life of me I can't find any tabs or screws etc and I don't want to break that plastic housing.

Do you mean the center stack? Not sure what you mean by EVIC. Is this a 2008-up thing? Ugh, the world is passing me by.

hey Ryan, I'm not sure what year they started but the EVIC is the Electronic Vehicle Information Center, its that deal glued to the inside of the cab roof right inline with rear view mirror where things like fuel economy is displayed.

on the 06 there are screws behind the bulbs... . use a pick to pull the lens out

Ah, I get it now. ABorgardt is right - the back side of each map light lens (the side farthest from the windshield) uses plastic tabs to hold itself in place. Use a small screwdriver to pry the plastic tab toward the windshield slightly , and each lens will swing down.

Screws behind the lenses secure the EVIC to the roof.

Be careful not to break the tabs, although a replacement lens shouldn't be too expensive.
