How do I track my truck order?

Just ordered a new 3500 and I have the VON (Vehicle Order Number), haven't been issued a VIN yet. I have heard of others tracking their order from the VON? Does anyone have information on this or a link to a thread which discusses this?

Get in line pal. Ordered my o5 3500 6/14 havent got a vin # yet. When we do there was a way to track the trucks once they left the factory on a train. I did that with my 01. It was kinda fun. Anyway have no idea how to do it now.

I ordered mine 7/20 and got the VIN already... said it's supposed to ship in 5 days. . 8/17. Too bad they didn't get the seat heaters on the order so I'm going to have to order a different one and wait loooonger.

When you say you didn't get the seat heaters, did the dealer screw-up and forget to order them or did DC not include them because they were on restriction?

The reason I didn't get the heaters is because they didn't show up in the dealer's system as long as the Laramie J package was selected. He could add them to a Laramie H package, but I didn't want the electric 4x4 switch. On the '04 you could get them with either package, so I asked him to look into it and get the seats added. I called DC myself and they couldn't add them. They told me they should be available by later in August. I asked them why they ARE available for one Laramie package and not the other, and all they told me was "yeah that seems silly, but sorry there's nothing I can do about it". So basically, I have to wait until DC gets their lazy arse up and puts the heaters into the system under the J package so I can order a new truck.

No you couldn't. I ordered the J package and I couldn't get the heated seats. I also didn't want to spend another $2100 (or whatever it was) so I could get them. I saw the aftermarket ones in Geno's, I wonder how they are?
