Check out the Diesel Dynamics site, they have a dyno chart showing the 275's compared to the DD II's. I don't know how the EDM's stack up, I haven't seen any charts on them.

DD's web site link is in the links section here, if you need it.

IMO - 275's are a waste of time. Go with DD2's minimum.

Generally, good advice. But if you live at high altitude and/or tow heavy, you may want to look at other options. At only $500, it's hard to argue against the Mach 1 65hp EDM. It's SUPER clean and will give EGTs that are well under control with stock intake and exhaust. The Mach 1. 5s are 85hp and $700, but I've read a lot about them and many folks think they are the ultimate all-around injector. They aren't the most HP, but they're really clean and give great MPG and are safe with otherwise stock parts.

I like my DD2s, but I think that it's better to save for EDMs and do it right. I wish i had.

I keep hearing that EDM's make more power and less smoke, better mileage and less heat.

I replaced a set of 200HP extrude honed injectors (10 flow) VERY BIG!! With a set of 125 HP edm's. To compare the two sets, the EDM's made about the same power with the same smoke and the same heat. I was testing the two sets on a mustang 1750. The truck had an HX40 with a drag comp.

Call me crazy, but i thought there was going to be less heat?

I forgot... about 4400 elev.

200hp honed injectors?? BD10s?

Something isn't right in your scenario-- I am as confused as you are-- I would expect less heat and smoke also.

I would think ANY injector would smoke less than a slobbery honed 200hp injector!!

Justin

EDIT: I have to wonder if the injectors in question were in fact what you think they are, or if there was a defect somewhere.

See my signature for dyno results with DD2's. Take these numbers with a grain of salt - 4. 10 gears hurt me on an inertial-type dyno as the change in drivetrain rotational momentum is large relative to the change in drum rotational momentum in comparison to 3. 55 gears. The same setup with 3. 55 gears will dyno somewhat higher, especially on the torque side (based on the numbers I've seen).

Maybe someone will post numbers for a comparable EZ/275 setup.

Yeah, mine dynoed 918lb-ft with the same BOMBs... . IRL, it's probably closer to the low 800s. They were using a correction factor for the altitude that IMHO shouldn't have applied.

Yes Ten flow injectors. They where made by Goff injection. A very good diesel injection shop. The EDM's came from Diesel Dynamics. The current setup he was running smoked more then most trains!!

I don't have number's but maybe next week I will. I don't think it is a waste of time. RV 275's=$275 DD2 or 1. 5 EDM's = $600 or $700 plus core($100) plus clutch ($900) Plus turbo if you tow heavy!

Don't get me wrong. I want 1. 5 EDM's but it comes down to money for me.

I was told the 275's were good for 50HP in the H. O. I will find out soon. :)

I had 301HP/670 ft-lbs on a dynojet when I had my EZ/275 combo. I enjoyed every minute of the ten months I had them installed. The trouble is... in my case, once i got a taste i wanted more. Even though I got a good price on the 275's, I didn't get much use of them. If your really really really sure you'll be content with 275's (like I was) there a great injector.
