Hey guys, Thanks to all of you who have replied to my posts, it's been a great help. Briefly, I have a 99/2500 Ram/Auto. Have been researching power mods and a few weeks ago bought a "splice in" "power button" After installation I was not inmpressed with the power gain. I got lots a feed back from many knowledgable guys out there. Basically I learned that the splice in type boxs (blue box type etc. ) void your warranty. I know there are many opinions out there regarding this subject, however I elected to go a different direction (plug in type (looking at the VA/BD). There is so much info out here regarding manuals and manual upgrades. Can you guys give me a consenses on the best, easiest and most economical way to get my 99 auto bombed without having to take out a second mortgage? Again I'm not a mechanical moron nor a diesel genius. I know I install a plug in, can I do the injectors myself? If I do a plug in and injectors will I need to modify my transmission? (which I really don't want to do. ) Thanks everyone!!!! Bob

Bob,

I guess there are a couple of questions you'll have to ask yourself... ... . 1. )Do you tow and if so what weights..... 2. )How much power are you looking for?? These being answered, you can now make an honest approach to the necessary upgrades that will be needed.

I was not very secure with the auto in its stock forum, I knew this the day I ordered the truck and made plans for the improvements. My opinion is the either a plug n play box OR mild injectors would be the limit for a stock auto. The EZ and VA are both straight forward installs(only two I've done) as I'm sure there are others. The injectors are not that difficult of an installation, if you have the proper tools and follow the directions(DD's are great). I installed 3 sets of injectors at the SETDR BBQ last Saturday, about a 2 hour job per set. I followed the list below as for as the BOMBing of my truck... .....

1 GAUGES... ..... a must
2 Air filtration and exhaust
3 Transmission
4 Injectors and the box

Best of Luck
Gary

I too have an Auto, and I recommend you first installing gauges. Then before you do any power upgrade, Call Bill Kondolay and have your transmission upgraded. Get the weak link fixed first.

After that... Injectors and the EZ box... all the way. Do be aware that for every piece of power you add to an Auto, your shift points will fluxuate. So you are better off installing everything at one time and having your transmission adjusted at that time.

Just my $. 02

I asked the same question several weeks ago and here's the concensus:

Guages First
Power Box - (I'm doing the plug and power)
4" exhaust

If you want more power after that, then it's

Injectors
New Clutch
Down Pipe
New TurboHousing

Bob,

Gauges first! I have a 5 speed in mine, however from what I have read from experienced BOMBers, If it were me I would follow this order after the gauges.

EZ
transmission upgrades
4" exhaust
Injectors
Fueling box

All these items except the transmission modifications, you should be able to install yourself or with the help of TDR members.
