How Do You Bomb without the High EGT's????

I have seen and heard about how easy it is to get high HP/Torque numbers from our engines. I have even been told that bombing the ISB gets it back to where it was originally. There is a little bit of a dilema here. It seems that when we bomb our trucks past the 300 hp mark, there is an EGT problem on accelleration and towing. I doubt that any factory ISB that came with these numbers had the EGT troubles that I have witnessed? Is it the ECM that is the root of the problem, the injectors, exhaust, turbo, or what??? Please educate me. Can the ISB be bombed to 350 rwhp without fear of the 1300 degree egt??
 
good questions, i also cannot wait to hear the discussion on this one. i do have one answer for you though... i only have a JVD computer, and i fight EGT's even on the 20% setting, not to mention 50%, so i guess that the answer to the latter part is you really have to keep an eye on them!

As of yet I can't answer personally. But buy the weekend I should have an answer. I am installing a HX40 and a 4" exhaust. This should conclude my bombing (for a while). As for now the DDIIs and the EZ work well with the stock turbo and a open exaust. 1100 wot and 1250 in medium to hard pulls. The DDIIs and EZ should be around 300hp.

Fuel timing, valve timing, more air in and more air out. Playing with those 4 things will change EGT's.

I know that the city buses around here use ISB engines and they pull around some heavy weight. These engines are higher hp/tq rated. I doubt these bus drivers even know what an EGT gauge is. What do they have that makes them more bullet proof that what we have?? BTW these arent the large Metro buses, these are the 30 or so passenger trolly type of buses. Is it the ECM program or what??? I know the Cummins service center in Houston works on them periodically.
 
My 99 had DDIII, a boost module, and a 4in exhaust. I could pull any hill with our 15k 5er on and never go over 1250. With a bigger turbo like a '40' it would have been even less. I bought everything from the same place, and knew that it would 'play' well together. I think some people get in trouble mixing and matching, and run into compatability problems.
