Just to let you know. It's legal to pump your own deisel in Oregon. It is not legal to pump your own gas.

Personally I'd rather sit in my dry, warm truck and let someone else put in in for me.

We're spoiled her in the Beaver state.

I use Pacific Pride, it was very useful on the trip up to get my TC and VB at Bill K's. IMOHO the state of Oregon telling me that I'm not quaified to pump my own fuel gives me a case of the A**. but Ramfan2 is right, Pacific Pride issued me a diesel only card without a whole lot of BS. Jack

I've used CFN and Pacific Pride. Neither one is cheaper than paying cash at a good truck stop like a Flying J.

I only use my Pacific Pride card in Oregon where my vendor doesn't collect the 24 cent state tax, or in other states if a Flying J isn't handy.

I agree with IronTrader. I don't think you are going to beat Flying J. Good fuel and good prices, and very consistently the low price leader (or close to it). For the life of me I don't know why the card locks aren't more competitive on price. Probably has something to do with the fact that most card locks are operated by the oil distributors, and they don't want to undercut the local stations they are supplying.

CFN did show a station in the permitting process here in Bend, but that disappeared off of their web site a few months ago. Bummer!

Pacific Pride in Oregon and Flying-J everywhere else when I can get it. We just made a trip throught Northern Kalifornia and Nevada. I checked pump prices and compared them to my Pacific Pride bill. The pump prices were about 7 or 8 cents per gallon cheaper.

With that in mind if anyone wants to join Pacific Pride try calling this number 1-877-876-8326

Richard Oram will be glad to answer your questions and send you an application.

I use Cenex premium Diesel in my Ram. They have several card lock stations near me so it works out rather well. In addition, I also have Cenex propane delivered to my house (for heating etc. ) so I only have one bill (unless I'm on the road and need to use one of the other cards).

I have done both CFN and PACIFIC PRIDE over the past 8 years or so and while they are convenient and usefull while traveling, I have found that the better price most places beat them by several cents per gallon in most cases.

Jan and Feb of last year on a two moth trip to AZ. , I used Pacific Pride and checked local prices. When I got home and got my Pacific Pride bill, I found that in most cases I had paid 3 to 5 cents more than the good local price. This year I used CFN mostly and again checked local prices and found that it cost me money to use CFN, but it is convenient when towing a fiver to know where to go and know I can get in and out oK.

I saw and add. for one of them and paid attention. They did not stress price, but rather that with their service you could know what your drivers were paying and have good records.

That seems to be what they are selling--not price. I have no commercial activity and neither of them has ever questioned that I do not use the minimum stated fuel amount.

Plan ahead of time

On my trip to LA last weekend I logged onto Flying J's website and planned my fuel stops ahead of time. I knew where I was stopping and the price at each stop. It was easy and convenient and was always in and out. I did stop and fill up at a Pilot truck stop a couple times becuase they were the same price or a penny cheaper, but mainly because it was in a more convenient location to the freeway.

It was nice to have fuel considerably cheaper on the entire trip than here in SE Washington. It was about 10c cheaper in Southern Cal. than what it costs at home.

I NEVER buy Flying J here in Pasco. It is often 5c or more per gallon than were I buy fuel, it has been as much as 10-12 cents higher.

Gary, I checked my last CFN bill. The tax info is not included in the total. It must be just for commercial accounting purposes. I divided the total by the gallons and got the listed price.

In Eureka the Flying J is usually only a cent or two less than the Texaco station. Sometimes it's more. CFN is the cheapest around here. I also fuel up in Williams which is right on I5 and the price there is below any other place in that area. In Sacramento I don't use CFN since it's not any cheaper than the serve yourself Exxon station down the street from where I have my trailer.

Hey Diesel Friek! Better check the billing carefully on the Pacific Pride invoice! I guarantee you it's going to be higher than paying cash at the same pump. My buddy owns a PP outlett and he gets $0. 2/G on any PP card he issues no matter where you buy the fuel.

Capacity of tank is 300 gals. Tank provided free by petroleum company as long as you buy fuel from them. I use Stabil fuel stabilizer in ALL by fuels, including gasoline. Tank gets refilled about every 3 weeks, since it is supplying the fuel for four diesel trucks. I don't use any biocide.

I buy retail from Chevron with a card which I have to pay $2. 50 a month to the State Fire Marshal. The pump is the same one the Log truckers and lumber haulers use. There was a time a few years back where the average Joe could use the card lock but they deep sixed it in a hurry. Occacionaly I get it from Flying-J when I am in the area.

Davison....

I was told to NOT use the biocide unless I'm certain I have algae.

An injection shop told me this, they had nothing to gain by telling me this, as the boicide was much more expensive than what they suggested I should buy. FWIW

I never had an algae problem in my tank (550 gal) and I only fill up about every 6 months.

As long as you get decent fuel, you should be set to go. I use conditioner (not certain the fuel I buy has it) and I havent had any problems. I use Power service "diesel kleen" and it does reduce my smoke. I've been adding 1 oz per gallon, about triple what they reccomend. Anything less, and I get some smoke.

I buy mine by mine by the gallon. Currently $1. 45 a gl. 8 mi. so. of Galt, Ca. 8 mi. up the road it's $1. 85- $2. 00 a gl. Funny-no It's not funny how the price can differ so much from one place to another. I only stop @ truck stops and I don't wait til I'm @ 1/8 of a tank and at the mercy of the first fuel stop. I do believe they are giving the trucking industry a brake here in Ca. because as the price of gas has gone up the price of diesel has gone down or stayed the same in most places, except for Shell, Mobil, Standard, and all the other Major oil Co. 's. I will not buy fuel from the Gougers.

Lowest prices in town........

My wife works for a (school) bus transportation company as accounts pay/receive and she says their last fuel bill (to their own 5000 gal tank) was 87 cents per gallon.

And no, she won't let me fill up, I already asked.

Bummer.
