I know some of you may be sick of my recenty high frequency of posts concerning the lift pump, but I'm in a bit of a bind. Earlier this morning I thought I should just buy a new lift pump, but after further investigation/reading on TDR, I'm thinking I give it some more time. My truck won't run (it's not getting fuel), and I don't have the fuel pressure gauge hooked up, so how can I see if the lift pump is working. I compressed the fuel tank, and that helped get fuel to the injection pump, but still the engine still won't turn over. Do you think filling the fuel tank will help? How can I tell if the LP is actually working?

A fuel pressure is the ONLY way to know if your lift pump is operating properly. You can tell if it's operating at all by opening the fuel drain on your filter and then have someone bump the starter (make sure the truck isn't in gear first). If the lift pump is operating at all you will get fuel coming out of the drain at a higher rate than otherwise. What that won't tell you is how well it's working because if it can pump any fuel at all you will get fuel coming out.

fuel pressure gauge. :)

Once you crack that fuel filter housing, the o-ring can have problems forming a seal again, might wnat to have another on hand. ;)
