How do you clean used Injectors?

I got a used set of 275's and would like to clean them. Do I only need to be worried about cleaning the tip? should the brass washer be o. k. to use again?

Cleaning shouldn't be required. Maybe use some varsol and a soft brush but Do Not use any abrasives such as emery cloth as you could damage the injector holes and alter the spray pattern.

Never re-use compressable washers as they are hardened from the heat and pressure and will not seal the same under the same torque. Get new ones. . This is your baby right?? Don't short-change yourself on important parts. Washer fluid maybe but engine components, don't fool around.

Use some lacquere thinner, give them a good soaking. They shouldnt need any cleaning to be honest, but I can see wanting to do it incase. FT Collins I see... a friend of mine Ern Hudson) just left to go out there and head up the investigation unit for the county Sheriff, Alderman I think??

I would also strongly suggest that you replace the O-Rings. (as well as the compression washers)

Most shops that work on diesel engines,except for maybe a dealer,have injector test stands where they can check the opening pressure and spray pattern of your injectors for a minimal charge in less than a half hour. It may be worthwhile to have this done.

For the full injector cleaning and pressure/flow/spray pattern check, my neighbor's shop does the ISB injectors for $16 apiece (Tri Cities Diesel Injection). Without cleaning about $8-10.
