I am storing a 2006 Dodge Cummins for my son-in-law for a few months. I would like to completely deactivate the anti-theft / security system and just use the key to unlock the door - you know, like it was 50 years ago.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks,

- John

Pull the IOD Fuse, then everything is shut down.
Check the manual for it, chapter "long term storage".

But be prepared, after such a long time the batterys will be drained anyways.
Consider to charge them after 3 months or so.

I am aware of the IOD fuse and I use it while it is parked. I also drive the truck every few days for a few miles to keep the batteries charged and to keep the truck in good condition.

I want to use the key to unlock the door and still have courtesy lights come on when I open the door (you know, like in the old days), but I don't want the anti-theft / security alarm to unintentionally activate. It has already happened once.

So, does anyone know if I can I switch the anti-theft / security feature to an "off" mode? I have not been able to find anything to help me with this, including the owners manual.

I just manually push down the knob/button on the door to lock it.

Alarm isn't activated unless i use switch on the door or turn the key towards the rear of the truck.
