Here I am

It sounded like a big rig :D When I did it, I was revving it up outside and a guy down the street had stopped for lunch with his Cement truck. Well he's out there revving that KW :-laf

He stopped by the house and asked what I did to the truck because it sounded badass!

After I put the tailpipe on I was disappointed I couldn't here it anymore :{

One day I dropped off my truck to get aligned and as I was walking home I heard a beautiful exhaust sound of a diesel. I turned around to see what it was. Guess what... my truck :D

So did you put a turndown on the downpipe? How loud or how much drone was there in the truck at interstate speed?

Its the price you pay when you want to play. I do it every summer just to get back at all the punk kids with their rice burners and show them what loud really is. :)

One day on teh way home from work there was this white ricer with a large pipe hanging off his car. Seems like he never drove a clutch before because all you heard was WHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNEEEEEE, fart fart fart... we'd move like 10 feet.

So, I knew how traffic flowed and positioned my self with some running room on his left... . :) rolled 3rd gear and timed it just right where boost kicked in right at his windows and filled his car and gave him an ear full.

All I got was " F-U white boy"... he was just off the boat too. :) He tried to run me when the road opened up and I passed him like he was standing still :) retard :)

Loud Pipes Save Lives

Funny how you only see that on gassers with the cheapest crap for mufflers.

you know, the kinda muffler that makes a 350 chubby sound like a ricer?

People need to learn, if you want a loud nice sounding gasser, YOU NEED HEADERS FIRST! :)

I have an HX40 turbo, and a Jardine 4" straight piped system from turbo to tip. I found that mine also had a very nasty in cab resonance at ~1800 - 2100 RPM, and decided to add sound insulation to the cab and header exhaust pipe wrap to the entire exhaust pipe all the way out to about mid bed. I also added some Dynamat-like material to my oil pan, which made the single biggest difference in sound supression.

I used various sound deadening materials from Great Southern Insulation

I have some good pictures in my Readers Rigs album of my gutting the entire cab and lining every inch of the cab - except the roof - with their 1/2" SoundStop foam. I also lined all door panels with the Dynamat-like material they make.

The sad thing is, some of these guys are spending upwards of $1000 for a muffler! Can you say "Complete idiot"? My brother had a customer who bought two $1200 mufflers for his mustang, all welds ground smooth, polished to a mirror finish. My brother told him it was a waste of money and that they would be damaged in no time, the mufflers hung down to far when installed, but the idiot insisted. My brother had him sign a waiver and installed them. How can we get some of that market? :-laf

My truck has the stock 3" pipe to right before the rear axle. It has a 90 degree elbow there and has a 18" 4" chrome slant cut tip exiting out the side right before the rear wheel.

Sounds awesome with NO drone at all.

Oh yea! VERY it CAN be used as a "weapon" be tweaking the trottle at opportune times!

It's not loud at idle up front in the cab. If you stand back there at the exhaust tip it's got a nice loud, but not real loud tone.

Putting on a resonator should do the trick. I had mine straight through, which was great for cruising but after towing the camper for 15 hours straight I couldnt take it. I put on a 4" resonator and it sounds great.

at idle my engine is louder than the exhaust... I've never really had a problem w/ the thing at idle... not that I try to have many conversations while standing next to the tailpipe

I have twice the excitment with having dual pipes at wheel level. If I could do it, I would make mine even louder, but I think mine is as loud as it goes. Scrappy can tell you how mine sounds a little different with the dual pipes on it.

Ben

I will vouch for Ben, his truck sounds real good, it is not too loud but it has a wicked whistle all the time especially during shifts (I want that!)

How long is the resonator?
