How do you dispose of fuel?

Back from Iraq!

New rebates???

Funny stuff Wbusa. I was thinking more along the lines of a quarter or half quart over my campfire to get it going in wet/cold conditions. I'll try to avoid the explosions :)

I use the fuel to clean out my oil catch can, then dump it in the used oil.

I use dryer lint to start campfires, it works great, stores easily, and is not combustible as far as I know. We just save it when cleaning out the dryer lint trap and use it throughout the summer. I also now understand how a home can burn down because of it.

Good idea! From now on I'm saving all my dryer lint... and maybe my bellybutton lint too!

My Dad and I start brush fires with our own concotion that we've affectionately dubbed "super juice": 3 parts used motor oil to one part gasoline, diesel fuel, or kerosene, whicever is convenient at the time. Just enough oil to make it cling to all the branches and twigs, just enough of the other stuff to boost the volatility up a trifle and make it easier to start/keep burning.

Works wonders when trying to get wet/green stuff lit off! :D

No, but when I change filters I have to drain the filter housing. I'm reluctant to put that back in the tank because to me it's like drinking your own urine.

I guess my only choice is to add it to my waste oil.

I really don't understand your logic about it being like drinking your own urine. That fuel, at worst, is exactly the same as what is coming from your tank and, at best, filtered clean. Thats like saying drinking water out of your kitchen faucet water filter is like drinking from your septic system. What *would* be like drinking your own urine would be to run your exhaust back into your air intake or capture any fuel that managed to trickle from your tailpipe and put *that* back in the tank.

So you do have a choice. Pour it back in like so many others have mentioned they do.

Now that is a great idea! Not only because of the improved burn you'd get, but also because it presents yet another way to dispose of used motor oil if , like me, you're too lazy to regularly haul all those jugs of used oil off to the recycling center, and you don't have an oil-burning furnace. I have just the patch of sparse, wet brush to try it on today... :)

Your idea also reminds me that when I was a kid I discovered "poor man's napalm": just dissolve a certain cheap and plentiful waste substance in gasoline till it gels up. Sticks to everthing and burns like a sum-b. I was a scary little kid :-laf

Kids: don't try this at home! Its nothing short of a miracle that I lived long enough to grow a beard!

Just make sure the container that you drain into is really clean. If worried, just dump it in your neighbors PSD! We've used diesel to start campfires. Dump it on, let it sit and soak for a minute or so, light it. It's a little smokey at first, but clears quickly.
