Hey guys,

I've been workin on tryin to install my Edge Comp for about an hr now w/no avail on my '02 ETC.

How the #$@^%#$^#$ do you get the '02 map sensor to unplug?

I got the little red clip on the underside of the sensor to pull out a bit, but I STILL can't get the sensor to unplug?

Is the red clip supposed to be fully removed? No matter how much I tried I can't get it to come out more than like 1/8".

Also, is anything else holdin the map in place?

Will I be removing just the black part of the sensor that pushes into the white part where the red clip is, or the black and white part?

Finally, can I use a male spade in the #16 slot that says SPARE on the fusebox too to power the Comp or how else should I wire it up for power??

Thanks in advance guys. I got the truck sittin in the garage and I need to figure this out ASAP so I can use it tonite.

Peter, I don't know if yours is the same as my 98. Mine has a latch on the bottom of the plug, just gently push the latch down and pull on the plug. You shoudn't need to force anything.

phumblias,

After you pull the red clip out a bit you have to press in on a tab in the middle of the gray plastic connector. I wish I could better describe it but feel on both sides of the connecter and press your fingers together to release the clip, then wiggle the connector off the map sensor. I just finished putting a Blue Chip FMS on a 2002 and had a bit of difficulty getting it disconnected. This only applies to the 2002 map sensor, I've done several other '02's, the earler models were different. If it makes you feel any better... ... ... ... I think they are going way overboard try to prevent accidental release of these connectors. Larry

Quick note here on the red lock tab. It's a pain in the butt. I've found it easiest NOT to go at it from the side with the lip. Go at it from the other side and just push on it with your thumb. It will unclip, then you can depress the center clip and pull the connector off.

If you want to practice on something you can see, go to the 7-pin connector on the rear hitch receiver. The harness that plugs into the 7-pin connector has this same "red-tab" locking arrangement as the MAP sensor.

Don't feel bad - it took me hours to figure it out when installing my EZ!! ;)

Just wanted to say THANKS to everybody.

I ended up breaking the clip on the sensor that you depress once you get the red tab out and now the sensor harness connector is stuck on the sensor.

I HATE Dodge right now. It's so obvious they did this to stop people from messin w/the sensor.

Any ideas how I can get the conn off w/a broken release?

Also, can I use the #16 fuse slot labeled SPARE to get 12V switched for my Comp?

Thanks to all in advance

Take a look at another connector with that style of locking mechinism on it. Depending on accese to the connector you should be able to use a small pick or screw driver to pull the locking tab up to release either from the front or back of the connector it's easier from the front (sensor side) but possible from the rear (harness side). Use the pick to lift the arms of the lock away from the sensor while pulling back on the connector there are 2 arms of the lock.

If you think these are bad you should see some of the new ones Dodge is using I wish they would stick to one style.
