How do you guys race these 5speeds?

I pulled up next to a Grand National, the other day. A young guy was driving so I knew he would show off. I reved the Cummins a little and when the light went green I gave it a little throttle before I let out the clutch. (I always let the clutch engage fully then hit the throttle, always have on my Dodges. ) It started hopping, so I let off the gas, and just drove normal. The Buick was long gone. I am no racer and don't intend to be, I just want some pointers for leaving quicker than normal.

I have a 6-speed, dunno if the 5-speed guys do it any different, but I rev to 2500rpm, let the clutch out a little just 'till it starts to grab, and then pretty much dump it from there. Seems to work pretty good fer me, with the 315's the 3. 55 gears, and the short 2nd gear, wheel spin doesn't seem to be an issue, it just goes. :D

i would say trac bars on the rear would help-- i feel your pain but i usual connect at virtualy stock HP.



I just quickly engage the clutch (2nd gear, 3:55 rear) and simultainiously slam the throttle to the floor-- a poof of smoke, an awsome roar, screaming turbo, and a lumbering red giant zooming off are the normal results.



PS-- i dont make habits of racing race cars, but ill take a cocky teen in a souped up honda civic any time:D (Cocky teen??? I must be getting old in my early 20's!!)



Also im runnig a centerforce dual friction clutch as the factory unit took a giant crap on me a few months ago..... :rolleyes:

Pedal on floor... shift occasionally... . nobody has got in front of me yet
