How do you have your E-braked auto set up?

The new exhaust brake should be here soon and I wanted to see how some of you have them set up as far as switches and the like on an auto equipped truck. Where do you have the switch(s) and how is it set up to operate? Thanks.

The instructions that come with it will tell you how to install it. The only decision that you need to make is where you want to put the on/off switch.

switch

I have an iluminated switch mounted under the dash gauges near the steering wheel. Kind of out of the way but easy to get to.

I generally turn it on and just leave it unless I'm in stop and go traffic and want to keep the egt's down

Love my B-D E brake!!:D

Just my opinion but I think a E-brake on a automatic is useless if it isn't accompanied by some sort of controller. There needs to be something (Commander or equivalent) that coordinates the torque converters lock-up and the E-brake so they work together and automatically dis-engage.

I have mine down by my left knee on the bolster, but I do have the ATS Commander, and so I am not throwing the switch a lot. Before I got the ATS, I had a Mystery Switch and was diving for the switch all the time. It is a lot easier now, and I don't have to worry about forgetting it.

Thanks for the reply guys. I'm just looking to see if someone has a set up that doesn't follow the directions. I saw Joe's, but although it sounds like it works great, I think it's more than I need right now.

Has anyone tried BD's new switch that replaces the throttle switch? I think it ties into the TPS or something like that.

I don't know about the BD brake, but PacBrake and the Cummins E-Brake use a signal from the engine ECM to control the exhaust brake and don't use a throttle pedal switch. You still must have a On-Off switch.

TDR Issue 41, pages 50-52 shows the installation of PacBrake on an '03 equipped with a 48RE along with a photo of the location of the On-Off switch.
