Now that I've driven this thing about 1 week, I'm curious to see what difference a silencer ring makes - both in noise and power.

I have the ring, I'll have to get the c-clip, wave ring e-clip - whatever it is, that holds it in, from the dealer, (if they can even find it in the parts books - I'm not impressed with the parts dept).

How do you install it? I'm assuming, from the looks and logic of it that it goes on the fresh air side of the turbo and it goes on the "inlet" side of that - is that correct?

Does the cone side go towards or away from the turbo?

I got the original service manual and it doesn't say anything:mad: about the turbo and how to service it!

Thanks!

Dan

Believe it or not... I saw a small decrease in low end power when I removed my silencer ring. The truck was still stock when I did it but, I hear the difference is minimal with a modified truck.

The ring goes where you thought.

Take a look on the holeset website. They have a complete rebiuld manual for the HX35 and it shows the silencer ring.

You will need Acrobat document reader from Abode installed on your computer to view the manual. If you dont have Adobe acrobat is available for free.

Dan , Don M is 100% correct about the install. . you have got it right. . Cone side face the turbo. .

If you have a nut and bolt supply around they can order or may have one of those C clips...

I broke mine, and went to bolt and nut house and they had one in stock... . But I did have my old one so we could get the right size!!

Thanks guys!

I took several hours yesterday to go do DC and Cummins to try and find the snap ring. No Luck - it's not in the book and no one has a clue what I'm talking about. The cummins dealer supposedly even called cummins themselves.

Oh well, I took a guess at what size it might be and went to a transmission shop and got a snap ring from them. Went home and after dinner decided to see if it was even close - took the hose of and there in the turbo was the original snap ring. Seems like the previous owner decided to put it back there so he wouldn't loose it.

I replaced the ring and didn't notice any difference in power, but now the turbo isn't as noisy, but I can still hear it just fine.

I'll have to take it out again after I get a TST plate and see if there is any difference.

Thanks for all the help!

Dan
