Ya know every time I go use a tube of silicone sealer it always is plugged after a previous use. Its the Permatex loctite stuff with a screw on cap. Is there any way to cap off the end with out it drying?

I put a small piece of Saran wrap or other plastic food wrap over the end then put on the cap, careful , to tight and a crack will develope in the cap. my 00. 002¢

I've always placed the cap on tight, wrapping the cap down onto the tapered snout of the tube with electrical tape. I have been able to extend the product's useful life to over a year (after initial opening) that way.

I put a sheet rock screw down the snout before wrapping with eletrical tape. If the silicone in the snout hardens you can pull it out in one piece with the screw.

Easiest: ya' know that little bit that's always dripping out the tube? Use it to coat the threads when you put the cap on. Seals it real nice. Never had a tube dry up since started doing this.

I use the CAP if the tube is supplied with one however, if no cap is provided I use a 16d nail prior to wrapping the snout with electrical tape.

* GE tube type caulks come with caps *

I just squirt out some extra, and make a marble size ball on top then stand it on my shelf. Next time I need it I just pull the ball off and go to work. For tool box storage that isn't to practical but I think the plastic wrap idea sounds worth a try.
