Every time I lift my hood, that freakin' weather strip that runs along under the back of the hood is laying on my engine. My 94 did the same thing. Has anyone done anything to keep it on?

2 yrs ago I found the cowl weatherstrip laying on top of my engine also. I cleaned it very well and noticed there was a very small amount of adhesive used originally. I purchased a tube of Mopar weatherstrip adhesive, warmed up the garage, cleaned the plastic cowl very well, and glued the weatherstrip back into place. It has stayed put for 2 years. I think the key is to use plenty of quality adhesive and clean the surfaces very well before gluing. Good luck.

You can also strategically "pinch" the weatherstrip channel due to there being metal inside the channel. Worked for me, no adhesive mess :D Hasn't fell off since going on 2 yrs.

On my '96, I was, let's say, impatient. I just took weather stripping adhesive that I had laying around, gooped up the truck side, stuck it on..... Been there since '97? Didn't clean a bit of it!

I second BHight's suggestion - pinch the metal and increase the grip. Five plus years and this part of the cowl seal is still secure.

The pinch method is the way to go... ... ... it will still be easy to remove and replace if you ever need to acess the wiper likage or motor ;)

Thanks everyone. The pinch method sounds like the way to go (working with glue when it's 8 degrees doesn't sound like a good idea). I never would have guessed there was metal in the channel.

Go to Napa parts store and get 3M windshild black sealer

Yep go to Napa parts store and get 3M windshield black sealer In a tube, then clean the inside with thinner where you are going to put the sealer then apply the sealer to both sides and put weather strip back on. She won't come off now. That what I did to mine and my friends truck. A common problem I guess. :-laf

my '00 does the same thing, i just check it periodically, the first time i noticed it was the fact that i could smell a slight rubber smell, popped the hood and she was laying on the turbo. . needless to say i have a area that got reformed from the hot turbo but the pinch method i will try, yeah 17 degrees here so will wait for warmer temps.

This is why I LOVE this forum. If you have a problem chances are someone else has had the same problem. I had this problem with my '97 gasser and the '01 diesel. I did a search and BAM found out how to fix the problem. Keep up the good work guys. Someday I hope to share something that I learned. -Jason
