How do you keep the cat off your car

The broom propped on the grill worked for a few minutes. Our cat stared at it and jumped on the hood anyway. I've tried water but I can't open the door quick enough to catch it anymore. If it was up to me the trusty Red Ryder would be handling this situation.

except for the scratches where he does a burn out after getting squirted, we had a stray around here that cut his life short by pulling holshots on the hood and roof of my nice black bmw, shot him right off the top of the car, i enjoyed that one almost as much as the one that use to #hit on the doormat nearly everyday. knew a guy that warned the guy down the street to keep his cat off his brand new truck for about a month, after that he took a 12g and cleaned the cat off the top of the truck, said there was nothing but 4 paws on the top of the truck, he took the findable parts back to the guy in a box

The water trick will work,no cat scratch marks on the van... ... just water spots :-laf

I had a neighbor that would let his dog out to do his business in my yard.

I cleaned it up the first few times... . then it was getting old.

The neighbor really didnt like it when his dog's "business" was somehow landing on his front step. :-laf

I ended up putting his animals in a sort of "witness protection program". He had way too many animals, so I relocated them for him. :-laf



Another neighbor had pigeons as pets ( I get all the head cases huh? )

After having a disgussion with him on how I didnt like birdcrap on my new black car... the birds continued targeting my car.

Well... lets just say I was pretty good with a pellet rifle when they flew straight.

Lay a towel down on the vents or where ever they are laying down to keep from scratching paint. Set a bunch of mouse traps(loaded) on the towel. Now this it the hard part: put 1 sheet of newspaper over the traps and wait for cat to walk on newspaper. Have video camera ready. :-laf

This has got to be the funniest stuff I have read here in a while. Guess when the trucks aint getting bombed back to the stone age all the critters are targets. I laughed so hard I was crying.

I have been told that cats do not like to walk on tin foil.

Put duct tape ( I believe its use # 812) on the pads of its paws. It will keep from scratching the paint. ALSO, do this after a drink or 2. Once you do this the cat has NO DEPTH PERCEPTION. It walks and shakes all its legs (RF & LR then LF & RR alternating) pure entertainment! :-laf :-laf :-laf

Plus, if it's hangin' around inside the garage it might get run over.

I've gotten one caught in the fan blades of the skid loader. The engine was plugged in, and it was keeping warm on engine. Bent the fan up good. Straightened up the blades, and put it back on. No problems in 4 yrs.



I know of several that have shorter tails, too. :-laf :-laf Fan belt got it.



I've heard that, at least on furniture, people have used ballons where thay like to claw or climb up. The cats pop the ballons with their claws, and it scares them.

Thanks for all the ideas, I will try some of them. Catching him up there is the hardest problem.

I am installing garage cabinets next week, so after that I am going to try and make him a bed up high. If that doesn't help it will be the water and foil. Maybe sometime when my wife isn't home the duct tape trick will be tried.

I don't particularly like cats, and when I find paw prints all over the car it really ticks me off. But this cat is pretty good, he lays around most of the time and lets the kids do just about anything too him.

Maybe I should tap into my furnace ducting and put a small vent under his cat bed. He loves laying on the vents in the house when the furnace is running.



And most of all, I am glad I could start a thread that gave everyone great entertainment.

I have seen the mouse trap trick work on kitchen counters and tables. Put the covered traps in the postions the cat normally jumbs up on. Initially the cat learns quick, but after 6 or 7 months the training needs to be reaccomplished. Of, course it may very from cat to cat.

If youre having a hard time catching them, get a motion detector.

They sell them for knowing when someone is on your property. Set it up in the garage, and the reciever inside. Cost about $10 runs on batteries.
