David,

I don't own one yet, but have been trying now for about 8 weeks to own one. They are on backorder from the supplier that make them for Brakesmart. Good luck getting your hands on one.

I spoke with them just this monday, and they said they may have some in by the end of the month???

I have ready very good things on this controler, and am looking forward to owning one once they come available.

I was going to get one because of the nothing-but-great reviews they get. I was waiting til the EGT gauge was built in though. To my knowledge, it hasn't happened. The lady said I was on a list to get an e-mail when it was available. Til then, I've been running the Prodigy, which works sweet on my light trailer.

IMO the best controller yet. I tow a 36'-3 axle 5th wheel that goes down the road at 16,000. LBS. and can now stop without any jerking or bucking from highway speeds to around town without having to fine tune it. Set it and forget about it. Very easy installation. It took me more time to figure out the mounting location than it did to install it.

I had a Jordan unit that I kept as a backup incase I didn't like the new BrakeSmart. After the first tow with the BrakeSmart I sold the Jordan. Not that there is anything wrong with the Jordan, but I'll not give up the BrakeSmart now that I've used it.

Get it, it's well worth the money.

what's the skinny on this controller? how much is it? it's tied in with engine info (EGT's)? is there a website? Is anyone using a drawtite activator II? I don't need anything spectacular, just a good controller.

I have a Drawtite Activator II and do not like it.

With a 8k 5er it was not bad, but had to generally reset the gain between traveling slow (in the cg) to traveling moderate (around town) to traveling fast (highway speed).

IF you fogot to reset it from slow to fast you virtually had little braking.

Then I got a 13k 5er and my opinion went to DO NOT USE IT!

I try to reset the gain in 1/4 number (2. 25) increments. However the visual gain display is 2. 0 OR 2. 5 OR 3. 0 ie 1/5 number increments so you do not really know what you have. TO set the gain and get a number you have to activate the unit while you are setting it, meaning you have to apply the brakes to see the gain number. I try to set the gain as we stop prior to road entry, but IF you forget then you have to apply the brakes while you are traveling and set it.

I just ordered a BrakeSmart based on what I have read on TDR. I have to wait till the BrakeSmart gets here then you can have the Activator II if you want it.

I think we are all discussing the trailer brake controller not the transmission controller. I went back and read the post and do not see any discussion of transmissions. Maybe I missed something?

For me I am talking about the Brake Smart Controller. I might not have the exact nominclature quite right, but the concept remains the same regardless.

Many of the discussions were about Jordan controllers, Drawtite controllers, Prodigy controllers which do not control transmissions to my knowledge.

There are references to EGT gauges being built in. I do not think DTT is building in EGT displays into the Smart Controller, or I need to get DTT to update my Smart Controller.

There are references to the delay in production of the unit. On the Brake Smart page there is a reference to production delays.

I do not quite understand the "misunderstanding".

However, I was not exact in the reference and stand CORRECTED! and that is my fault.

Nice pictures by the way.

Do you have any information on the ElecDraulic By Master Breke Systems?

Bob Weis

I ordered the Brake Smart controller, might take a couple of weeks to get here. but will be well worth it. I am going to run the Brake Smart controller for a year or two and see how it works ($250 for the controller + 100 for the wireing harness total of $350) before I consider changing to trailer disc brakes (Dexter 8k disc mechanism per wheel $450 x 4 wheels + electric hydraulic actuator $800 or about a total of $2600).

I have the Dexter 8k self adjusting electric brakes with EZ lube axles and with the Brake Smart controller that may well be sufficient for satisfying my RV stopping requirements. If not, then I will see what Master Brake Systems does with its new electric over hydraulic system.

I called Master Brake Systems about the ElecDraulic and they have suspended production of it and it is no longer available. Master Brake Systems is in the final phases of redesigning the ElecDraulic to come out with a new electric hydraulic system in "about 3 - 6 months".

Thanks for the link. It was interesting,

I have a Drawtite III with the remote controller and for the most part I like it. It was easy to install and with the remote controller I could install it anywhere and in any position. I mostly use the hand controller to do the braking so the timing settings are not a big issue with me. :)
