Ok, so I bite and I think the mix of MMO and Power Service is doing something good for my truck :). I have yet to see about millage, power sure hasn't decrease, if anything, things are a little quiter even.

I looked at the 1 gallon (or so) bottles of MMO and PowerService. Followed their recomendations for per 30 gallons or so, did some math and came up with 16oz of MMO and 11oz of PowerService. I think this is a bit more then some of you folks run. I typicaly fill up 32-33 gallons at a time, even from the same pump for the last 10 or so fill ups.

Then I look at this huge jugs and desided it would NOT be wise to use carry them around and try to measure on the spot every time. Since 11 + 16 = 27 is < 32. a 1 quart bottle is perfect for one tank full of fuel. Got my self a little funnel and setup a little lab in my garage for mixing my additive! :)

I used a clean Amsoil bottle with a nice easy to read oz markings on the side. I'm looking to get 4 quart bottles on my next oil change to have a total of 5 of these things and pre-mix 5 at a time to advoid getting all messy before or after each fillup and make a small batch to last a while.

Anyone else do this or have a much cleaner, easier way of dealing with this?

My goal is to get some truck boxes that fix flush with the wheel wells and store these in the truck boxes. So I would need something very durable. something that will live with tow straps, some tools, and things boucing on them.

I've been thinking about the same thing. I kinda like the idea of using the 32 oz MMO bottles. Then you don't need a funnel.

no no no :) the funnel is for putting the MMO and PS into the old amsoil bottle. The oil bottle works well enough to pour into the tank.

I use 16 oz Power Service and 8 oz Marvel Mystery Oil. Bought a six pack of 24 oz water bottles and I use the containers for the pre-filled mix. I don't ever worry about those things ever leaking. But man the 96 oz bottle of Power Service under my sink leaves an odor and there's no way to get rid of it. Bottles sealed and everything. The things we go through. If it means taking care of the truck it's worth it.

Where did you get the water bottles?

I'm assuming you DON'T mean the ones water comes in. I figured the additive would melt those.

Thats the problem I ran into yesterday. When I went to mix the PS and Lucas. I poured the PS into a plastic measuring cup and into a glass bottle. Well when I grab the Plastic measuring cup again it was turning gooey from the PS.

I use amalgamated so I dont have to mix stuff but it does come in a 5 gal pail so I do have to put it into something else. What I did was go to an outdoor/camping type store ( I used REI). I purchased some MSR fuel Bottles in the right size for my needs. They do come in various sizes so you should be able to find one that works for you. They are aluminum with a relatively wide mouth and a rubber oring seal on the cap. I purchased 6 of them. Fill them up to the right amount, toss them into the toolbox and pull one out each time I fill up. When all are empty I just refill again. I have been using the same bottles for a couple years now. They work great. Only drawback to them is you dont have a good way of measuring in the bottle. Since they are aluminum marks on the outside of the bottle are somewhat useless. For me it is not a problem as I bought bottles that hold a single use for me and I just fill them up. However if you are having to measure up a mix you would probably have to premix then put into the bottle.

I started using plastic bottles at first but ran into that bottle melting issue in short order thats when I figured I would try the aluminum ones.

I too mix a cetane boost and a fuel supplement, I pour the two into a 32 oz oil bottle with a sight glass on the side so I can see how much im adding I use the oil bottles because they do have the sight line and they dont leak when laying on there side, like power service bottles do.

What kind of cost per gallon do you have with the mmo/power service? I use cenpeco treatment, best stuff I've ever used. 1 gallon treats 1000gal of fuel. $. 02 a gallon of fuel treated. I figure that would be about $. 04-. 045 a gallon for power service. I've never been that impressed with ps. In my semi I've gained about . 5mpg with the cenpeco. About 1-2mpg in my pickups.

First time around buy the MMO in quart bottles and then use that. They work great and PS doesn't effect them.

I run 16oz PS and 16oz MMO if I dont run Biodiesel.

Pawpaw,

I use Aquafina bottles. Got em from Walmart. Of course I dumped to water out for drinking purposes. To my surprise I have never had melting issues with them. I've been using those bottles with the mix stored in them since May 2005.

I have been using PS/MMO mix for well over a year. I was pre-mixing and using MMO 32oz jugs for carrying in the truck. Lately I have been using washed out Coca-Cola or DR Pepper 20oz plastic bottles. Pre-mix then fillup 5 or 6 plastic "coke" bottles with 16oz of mix and carry 2 or 3 in heavy duty zip-loc bag under the back seat. Just throw the bottles away when used at fillup. I have not had any problems with the coke bottles melting or leaking so far. So far I have not had any odor in the truck either.

I buy big jugs, the 36oz diesel kleen, and 32oz MMO (I think these are the right sizes). I mix up my concoction in the bottles to have it ready ahead of time, and then throw in 1 or 2 32oz MMO bottles of the mixture in the toolbox and they are ready for dumping before fill-up.

-I've got an "Action Packer" storage container I keep in the bed of my truck with a adjustable spanwise bar that holds it to the front of the bed, along with coolers, or anything else.

-Inside the action packer I have my bottle of PS. Haven't used MMO at all yet, guess I should research what I've been missing???

-Have a "Measure Funnel" with an closeable spout, long exit tube, and a cover on it. Marked it at 12 oz. with a black marker for easy reference. It has measurements right on the side if I fill at other than empty, but I usually still add 12 oz. figure it won't hurt.

-When I stop to fill up, open the action packer, pull out funnel, pull "gas station" towels out of it that I put in so soak up any excess from a previous use and discard.

Put exit tube in tank, fill funnel to the mark with PS, twist open spout and drain it in, go get new gas station towels, put them in funnel, put cover on, close spout and put everything back in the action packer. I usually get more crap on my hands from the diesel pump handle itself, than adding the additive.

The Action Packer is lockable if needed, and does get dirty with fluid etc. It's nice though as it keeps the mess centralized. I occasionally clean it out and restock it with rags or other service related things. Bed and cab of the truck stays clean, everything is centrally located with the truck. Seems to work good for me.

I started using the MMO and Power Service.

4 oz MMO and 8 oz of power service.

Would it harm anything if I add a touch more or should I wait until the next fillup??
