I seeing guys liking cats. To me they are MANS best pet. If you are single you can be away for the night and the cat will be fine. A dog you have to make sure you are home to let him or her out and feed her. I had 2 all white long hair cats 5 years ago. Unfortunately, I had to give them up to marry my wife. (Well worth it. She is a wonderful woman) She is VERY allergic to cats along with her brother. I was fortunate that I found a good home for them. But I would really like to have a cat again. I too would like to see a picture of FatCat. We had a cat when I was a kid named Big Al, and was one big cat. The vet we used to take him to had a cat he treated that weighed in at 26 POUNDS!! I would have loved to see that cat. -Jason

FATCAT, kudos to you for doing the right thing for your pet. They aren't just animals, they are FRIENDS and deserve the best we can do for them. It will be tough on you for weeks to come, but it does get better. You have my condolences bud, because I've been through the same thing.

dseabaugh, I am sorry to hear that you and your wife's health are in such precarious state. Are you doing OK? Is there anything we can do to help you through this tough time? You are in my prayers sir.

FATCAT,

Sorry to hear of your loss, but you did make the right desicion. I have a 4 year old German Shepherd named Diesel ( my little boy named him). He was diagnosed with elbow dysplasia about a year ago. And he is progressively getting worse, he has a constant limp and is on pain medication. I know the time is coming, and the hard part is knowing when that time is. I am totally depressed at the thought of having him put down. It's hard because I don't want him in pain and he will have a few good days and then a bad one. It's tough! Again sorry for your loss, but FATCAT is in a better painfree place now.

FATCAT, sorry for your loss, it's never easy. I swear to god though that that cat was a twin to the one my mother had when I was younger, looked the same and killed everything in sight.

IMHO, Its never easy to say good bye to a pet who has meant so much to you.

I know the feeling you are experiencing.

Maybe Im a wuss, but the hardest thing Iv had to do is put a beloved pet down for whatever reason.

My mother always said , when I was growing up, I had a soft spot for animals and she is right.

Our family...

We have a wall dedicated to the children in our family. It holds the pictures of eight members that have passed since my wife and I have been together these twenty seven years. I sometimes glance over at them and think of the personality of the animal, they were all unique. I feel that way they NEVER die, I still sometimes feel like they are still under my feet, I still see glimpses of them at times, hear their voices in the night, their footsteps on the porch, their warmth on my lap. They never die... Go down to the pound, find another large furry friend that needs a home, do not hesitate, they are there to help you with the grief... It is what FATCAT would want. .

I had to get home and give my fat cat a big, long hug.

Everyone should give their furry friend a big hug when they see them. You never know when it will be their last. I'm sitting here on the couch and I still have the old blanket next to me where he would always lay down next to me ... the house feels very empty without him.

In time there will be another furry friend, but not right away.

Fat Cat, I know how you feel. I lost my dogs back in September. Wild dogs got into my yard and ripped my dogs up. I had to let them go.
