How do you talk to these guys that don't read the TDR.

I was in line at the post office the other day, and two guys were talking Dodges behind me. I asked the one that was talking about his new plate, which plate he paid to get installed. He did not know, so I just mentioned that he might ought to get gauges. He said, "My mechanic is the best around and he knows what he is doing, I would put my Dodge up against anybodys. " I just said, "Its best to have gauges you could really be running hot. " Anyway, he was friendly, just did not want to hear what I had to say. I just know how this stuff works. A guy gets his cummins running really good, (w/no gauges), next thing you know a turbo blows or he melts some pistons and the Cummins is the worst pos ever built, and he is a Ford man for life. I know two folks that did this already. I am just not good at making suggestions without making some one mad. By the way, I had 3 12 valvers, and have worked on dozens of them, I am by no means a pro, but I do know when you need gauges. This guy may be a member, just doesn't know how important gauges are. What is the best way to spread the word, I just hate to see something happen that could have been prevented. I should shut up now, my gauges are still in a box in the garage. Whoops.

Now I know a fellow at work that has a 01 for his wife and a 92 for himself. I've tried to talk to him, even gave him an extra copy of TDR, he knows it all. When I try to say something, he already knows it and overtalks me. I finally just shut-up. Whats the use. He can't learn anything. If I was as smart as he thinks he is, Piers would be calling meOo. Oo.



I just keep plugging along in my little truck.

I have a friend with a '95 5 speed and a #5 plate. He has had it in for 3 years, luggs the snot out of it and doesn't think he needs gauges OR the TDR!



I gave up a while ago. I do get entertained when he calls me with some revelation he heard or read in a 4x4 magazine somewhere. Then I get to explain all the details to him! Oh well, at least he is smart enough to listen, but he still can't seperate himself from that $35... .

When I encounter this I simply invite them to attend Thunder in Muncie or Sheid Diesel Extravaganza. Once they get around us, no words will ever do the justice! Keep your eyes open to upcoming events in Texas, the frequency of such events will increase, just a feeling I have.

You request TDR flyers from the TDR (color brochures), keep them in your truck and pass them out to anyone who has a Dodge CTD you run into. Ask them first, if they are a TDR member, or if they have heard of the TDR. Give a brief summary of the magazine and the wealth of information in it and on the website. Also wite your membership number on the enrollment portion, so if they do decide to join, you will get credit in the TDR magazine and a gift, lately it has been the "Cummins" Diesel Power cab plate.

I was talking to another CTD owner, about the mods to my truck, and he started to say how going over 3000 RPM will kill the engine, and how it wont handle the power upgrades... blah blah blah..... It was obvious he has his mind closed.



The way I see it is those that dont want to listen are forced into the slow lane so we can blow by them

c'mon guys, we all know that if gauges were really necessary, DC would have put 'em on our trucks. these trucks can't be improved from the way they come from the factory... ... ... ... . EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT!!
