How does the Cummins emission fine affect us as owners?

Have SCR and DPF, is there a market for this?

just check my Mopar garage no recalls listed so far I think they are doing the 2018 older first, it could be they are still working on what needs to be corrected on the newer ones..

I think folks will just need to wait and see what happens. Hopefully whatever they do doesn't impact drive-ability or usability.

I just checked my work 2020 that I drive and no recalls pertaining to any EPA stuff. @06 Dodge might be on to something though.

Will be interesting, and I am certainly on the edge of my seat right now watching how this will all play out.

Another problem is the EPA allowing the state of CA to be involved ( they make problems where there are none just to justify being an agency with a hate towards ICE of any kind) as I recall they even have different types of diesel fuel that is mostly only found in the state of CA and a few select areas that have also somewhat follow the state of CA and there crazy BS... JMHO

I’m still confused. The 2013 that I used to own would go into limp mode at the first hint of an issue with the emissions system. It drank DEF fluid like a party animal on New Year’s Eve. Until the fuel injectors started showing their age it ran well and clean. So what defeat system did it have? When will the EPA go after all the other diesel engine manufacturers?
Don’t get me wrong I want to protect the environment but it’s time we did it smartly. Yes what VW did was wrong. But I don’t see Cummins having done the same thing. Or anything remotely close. Even V&M with the Eccodiesel. Those engines weren’t all that dirty. If you’re consuming less fuel to get a job done you are making less emissions.
I think it’s time we stop this BS with the EPA. It’s time that WE THE PEOPLE take back our country. We need to speak and be heard.

I would also like to know what the so called defeat system is. Seems to me Ram/Cummins has been very compliant. This global warming and Agenda 31 nonsense is stripping away our freedom.

IMHO ( defeat system) is just BS commie talk from the state of CA who we all know hates any type of ICE, I do not understand why they were even allowed to start this BS in the first place other then a bunch of someone's are a sleep at the wheel in DC and have allowed them power they don't really have an are to scared to say no to them..

How can Cummins be blamed? If I'm not mistaken the ECM is not a Cummins ECM, isn't it from Chrysler which would mean all the software belongs to Chrysler? Seems to me the Washington and California Mafia is targeting the engine manufacturer to put them out of business, similar to gun lawsuits targeting gun manufacturers.

Totally agree with, but there is usually more to the story that we all don't know about. Heck we don't even know what the true fix is really down the line. They could in theory issue yet another recall months from now, especially if it's software.

Guns, well, lol, that is another whole topic... but I agree, same concept. Shouldn't be allowed. I love the 2A, but it's getting abused by the agenda of corruption.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...

I firmly believe the agenda is to end compression ignition diesel engines because they know they know they are the cleanest burning engine ever made, and the fact that they can use farm-based fuels like renewable diesels and bio diesels to be a true net zero that actually makes sense. Without spending trillions of dollars world wide to install charging systems and mining dangerous elements that put us all at risk. As an occasional farm hand for two local farmers (since I was a child), I keep hearing that those folks hate farmers because it doesn't fit the "agenda" in the automotive/commerce realm.

It all goes back to Rudolf Diesel. Somethings been up since he "jumped ship" (literally!). That Rudolf Diesel is to engines as Einstein is to General Relativity. In other words, Mr. Diesel knew what was best for the world.

I'll leave it at that as this isn't a political forum.

I am proud of any diesel owner. Whether it be an owner of an old diesel or an owner of a new 2024 diesel vehicle, you are doing the right thing. I want to see more people buying diesels.

No doubt that the California Mafia hates diesels and has been trying for years to find a way put a stop to them from being used in the state, this maybe the first full blown shot across the bow figurately speaking...

I have received my recall notice and it says:

WHY DOES MY VEHICLE NEED REPAIRS?
The engine control software in your vehicle must be updated with an upgraded calibration as required by the US Environmental Protection Agency and California Air Resources Board for better emission performance.

To me, that means they will reprogram my ECU to make less power and use less fuel to proved better emissions. I don't plan to get recall done on my truck. I will wait to see what happens here in the forum.

lol, nothing has indicated that it’s about fuel or power.

The initial reports are that it’s a NOx issue, and that the trucks may use more DEF. That’s not a big deal at all, be happy if they don’t up your EGR usage.

My 12/2013 build has the 67A awaiting in the wings also. Won't be anytime soon for sure. Seems the way the letter reads it's going after the CA trucks the most. o_O Waiting to see what it entails as it says software.

It will make it grow bigger wings and use more DEF.

Sorry, you made me chuckle. :D
