I am looking at upgrading my lift pump situation. Replacing the VP and don't want to ever starve the new one. Would really like the RASP but kinda pricy, I live in Michigan and was worried that the salt in the winter would'nt get along with a FASS unit. I know lots of you guys that have them live in the salt belt, just wondering how the FASS stacks up.

Thanks,

Derek

3 years now and all is fine. The outside of the filter will rust some, but nothing major. The anodizing still looks new in the spring with a little elbow gease... ... ..... lol. I have ran mine in -30+ degrees and still working like a champ. I was worried to when I first got mine and after the second year I haven't givin it much thought, Later Jim.

How about where it mounts? Up along the outside of the framerail? I'm REALLY concerned that it will take a WHACK from road (or OFF-road) debris and get damaged, leaving me stranded. I'm planning on having Tomeygun install the FASS on my '06 when it arrives but I do get the willies about where the FASS mounts up. I know some folks have made custom "skid" plates for it. I do wish someone would market one! I KNOW you'd sell 'em! :)

JTyles,

That was one of my biggest concern too, but after it is mounted up it is up out of the way pretty good and the cab mount kinda protects it. I also have nerf bars and the driver side one protects it too. Mine is on a 2001. I thought about the skid plate idea too, but once the FASS was mounted up, I didnt think I needed it.

Hope this helps,

J-

ps so far no problems with FASS and Salt in Mich for me, but it has only been on truck for about 7 months

I will agree to that, I wanted to make something before I installed mine, then figured it is out of the way enough. If I hit something that is going to take out the FASS then I will have a wrecked box also, and that is not in my plan.

what size injectors whould those 8x12 compare to? i have a 02 HO with DD2s and assumed when I tap my wire with my comp mine would be around there too? thanks,Luke

I've had a fass for about 3 years. I really am not happy with it. It has been an unreliable unit for me and if I had it to do over again i would much prefer to have the rasp.

A while ago, when my fass pump was about a year old, it would momentarily lose pressure when the pump was shocked (i. e. hit a big bump going down the road. ) I could actually get it to loose pressure when the truck was sitting parked by getting out and shaking the pump. (it wasn't an electrical issue, because the pump wouldn't stop running... would just kinda cavitate for a second. ) DPP sent me a new (different size) check ball which i replaced inside the pump. This was supposed to fix my problem but it didn't. So they replaced the entire unit under warranty (thank you to dpp for that). All was well for about a year and then the motor on the new pump went out and left me stranded. dpp steped up again and sent me a new motor which i replaced and everything was back to working well again.

Recently this motor has started messing up. Often when i start the truck i won't have any fuel pressure. I'll have to get out and smack the pump and then it usually comes alive. I've bought a new set of brushes that i plan to put in as soon as my schedule gives me a minute.

In a nut shell i've had a complete failure about once a year since i've had mine. I don't trust it at all and tend to spend about as much time watching my fuel pressure gauge as i do watching the road when i'm driving. I would love to have the rasp system, as i believe this is a much more reliable setup.

just my experience and opinions,

Chris

Well, "NO". I had DD2's and they a nice injector, around 70 to 90hp depending on which truck you have them in, ETC/ETH.

Don't let my dyno numbers fool you, I have a big air problem, or should I say lack of... ... ... ... . :( . The 12's are a 200+ injector... ... ... . since I had Haisley's 8 x 10's last year, when I ordered these for myself and asked Patty the same question... ... ... ... ... . her reply as I heard Van in the back ground... . "more". . :-laf There is no comparision to the DD's and the Haisley's, they make a very nice EDM injector. Been happy with both sets so far and may move up to 8 x 14's next year, but for now with the 12's a turbo is next... ... . finally... . :D

Thanks for the input guys. . I really don't want to spend good money at someting that is a POS. .

Thanks,

Derek

Hey Jim, I may know a guy ... hint hint ... who'd take those 12's off of your hands when you're ready. ;) Jim does have a major air problem, I can't believe that the poor 35 hasn't gone thru the hood yet. Get that 66 on there already would ya... well maybe get bigger injectors first, next year is only a few weeks away ya know. Once you have that turbo you may not need more power, at least for a week or 2.
