How easy to R&R oil pump??

Anyone had one of these apart and tell me how hard it might be to R&R the oil pump with the engine in the truck??



BTW, I did do a search, but only came up with oil leaks and such.
 
Remove the gear case's cover like you would to look at the dowel pin. Four bolts hold the oil pump to the block. Put a little grease in the rotor of the new one so it can prime itself easier.

Wish I would've known that when I had the cover off to do the dowel pin late last summer.



My oil pressure just will NOT come up until the engine starts and hot it runs about 8PSI.



When it's cold and hard to start, it can crank for a LONG time and ZERO pressure on the mechanical gauge I installed and on the instrument gauge.



The cost of an oil pump would be minimal compared to the work to install it. Oh well, at least I know how and have been there before!
 
You mean the plug that I removed to install the mechanical oil pressure gauge?



Is that a common problem that the reg fails? (Probably the spring. )
