Please help me out with this guys. I am anxious to install all my new goodies this weekend and I ordered the barring tool to turn the engine over but it didn't get here by the weekend, so I need some advice.

What is another way to turn the engine over besides the alternator nut to adjust timing? I know I can only turn the engine one way with the alternator nut, but could I pull the balancer off the front and put two of the bolts back in the crank and turn it over with a pry bar between the two bolts in the crank snout?

I just really want to install my new stuff(HTB2, EDM injectors) but I am gonna need to adjust the timing or it will run to hot with the EDM'd injectors. Please help me out guys need the truck running by Monday for work, but not it the timing isn't at 16*.

Thanks a lot in advance!! :)

I turned mine over by removing the cover on the bottom of the flywheel and used a screwdriver on the ring gear.

I wish my trans was designed that way but I have a one piece housing around the clutch/flyheel assembly. :{

No one has any other ideas? How about my turning it over with my crank snout idea?

I can't seem to find anything in the search since there are so many threads containing the words "engine. "

Use a 15mm impact socket and a breaker bar to turn it over with the bolts that hold the harmonic dampner on. Make sure you only try to tighten them though, cause if they break loose you will have to take them out and reinstall with some med. loctite

Yep, that is how I do it.

Cool, that is what I was thinking as well, better than removing the damper. And I believe the alternator nut turns the engine counter clockwise, so I am in good shape. Thanks guys!

BTW, I forget, if you standing at the front of the truck, facing it, which way does the engine spin, counter, or clockwise? TA :)

A guy that set my timing used a wrench on the fan nut, he worked it back and forth like a ratchet because belt slips oneway and bites the other, easy to get to and right there while feeling pin... . :D :D .
