Shifter Knobs

Spent 5 1/2 hours yesterday doing my spring truck cleaning. Wax/detail the inside and outside. Clean engine compartment. Paint the frame and detail the bottom of the truck for any rust. I do this spring and fall seems to keep it looking new. Truck sits outside since it is to long for the garage :D

I don't know if I am willing to admit its spring yet. I took the topper off the other day to try to clear between the topper and cab adn replace the foam weather stripping (should have seen me taking off the topper alone:eek: ). It goes back on tomorrow till the third week in apring and then it is gone for the summer. I about a month it will get an outside detail. I have a shop to clean it all winter so spring is not that big a deal. With my dogs keeping up with the interior is important or you will never catch up.

Plus no matter what I do the truck is dirty. Just a fact of life;)

I get some crappy cloths on, grab the hose, lay on my back and throughly spray the undercarraige. Spend about an hour. It's the winter salt that is by far our trucks worst enemy.

I feel for you guys up north... . I just worry about bugs on the front end all year long.

Acid rain is a pisser also... . but wax does the trick!:D

I tailgate somebody until he's mad enough to spit at my truck. Then I drive 80 mph to dry off the spit. That's what I do for spring cleaning of the truck.

I generally just catch a good hard rain shower then go splashing through the mud holes to clean up the undercarriage. I usually do a Mid summer cleanup (dry as hell then).

Morph.

Detailing

Whether it is a performance car or a hard working truck I think to the extent practicable good periodic detailing is a must- I just put Big Green in the shade last weekend and did a thorough washing with Meguiars car wash and followed it up with a wax I bought in NY called Gliptone- it lasts and goes on great- I use Zainos or Griots Garage Speed Shine as a touch up between waxings and washings- Leather conditioner on steering wheel and Griots Garage Vinyl and Rubber Conditioner on all trim in and out- Armor All Extreme Tire shine on the Michelins and wipe and shine the wheel covers- Any paint benefits from this maintenance and only use 100% Cotton Towels to prevent scratching- sounds excessive but I like to do this stuff and truck looks great- every six weeks I do it again. Griots Garage also makes an Undercarriage Spray that looks good in the wheel wells and covers the hard to get to stuff.

Your like me, everybody wants to buy your used vehicles because they know how you take care of them. :D

Detailing

Yeah and I generally lose my butt because the used car has been modded and detailed to perfection but the new stuff does nothing to the price and some unsuspecting owners are getting great rides at regular prices- the guy driving my 99 ws6 Trans Am probably doesn't know that he has a G-load brace, panhard rod, Lower control arms and subframe connectors in it as well as Flowmasters and a K &N- took a bath on the Big Green trade- dealer actually wholesaled the car because it was "just another Trans Am"

I usually just open both doors when the wind is blowing good or drive though the sprinklers slow. Sort of a waste of time to put much cleaning into a work truck on a farm, it will just get trashed again the next day.

Spring cleaning. .

Slackwater from the Muskatotack (sp?) River floods a road near Austin. It will get 2' deep for a half mile on the road. I just drive along about 40 and hope I dont hit too many fish. You can salvage a deer after hitting it, but not a carp.
