Mine is now in the same location as the stock one. I'm guessing forward equals more smoke and power?? I have been told to try . 010 to . 015 thou at a time. Its in a 97 5speed

400hp and 1000ft/lbs are atainable with this plate and proper timing but egt can and will kill this tough motor gaulded pistons and cracked heads and head gaskets cab be the result so watch the pyro and have fun.

#10 AND DDIII ALL I CAN SAY IS omg this truck is bad, my plate is still in stock location, its enough for now

"stock clutch killer" he he he Brandon

Back in my early bombing days, I slid my TST #6 plate all the way forward when it was new. One of the knowlegeable people on this board asked me why I did this. I was looking to get as much as possible out of it. He simply said, why didn't you just buy the bigger plate? That has stuck in my mind for years! But within another week or so, I will be sliding my TST#6 ahead a little more, now that I have my DTT stuff in! She's going all the way! :D I have it back LESS than stock right now because I was concerned about my transmission (BD stuff) life with my right foot and the 370's and governor springs. Time to crank it up!

Plate location

I have a #8 in mine and it is in the stock location, would I benefit from sliding it forward? Also what are the repercutions of doing this, I have the AFC all the way forward and 20clicks out from original and the smoke is under control, also the EGT's run around 1200 but saw 1300 once and backed out of it, I'm still with the stock exhaust - the cat.

Easy Brandon, you are starting to get a little out of control !!!!!! Looks like we are going to have some fun in Tulare. lol:D :D :D

Of worthy notation to all who are or have slid your plate fwd.

Mark @ TST emailed me back when I asked him the same question & said:

I recommend only placing the plate in place of the stock one. There is a high chance that the follower that hits the torque plate will go completely under it and stick there if you move the plate forward.

Mark

I'm thinking, with that kind of risk & the fact that you can exchange a plate to whatever power you need, why bother messing around with sliding it?

Maybe this is why Piers told us of the

<a href=http://www.piersdiesel.com/LeverAdj.htm target=_blank>Secret Governor Lever Adjustment</a>?

I have played with moving the plate forward on my 97 215 motor and care should be used for only a slight amount of forward movement equals alot of EGT!!!!!

With doing the Piers rack follower adjustment the sticking can be avoided. :D

I currently have my modified #11 . 022 forward from the stock position. And the EGTs will max out my gauge if I stay in the load peddle too long

Piers told me a while back that . 010 = roughly 10 HP. This was on my truck with the #8(330 HP) plate. Yours might be different.
