What about K & N oil filters?

BD Short Shift-So far I don't like it..will it get better?

I purchased a Transgo Shift kit (part number 54979) for my transmission, and I'm debating on whether I should tackle this myself or take it to a transmission shop? I've done multiple big jobs on my engine, but I've never done anything but remove the pan on my transmission. Is this a shade tree install or should I not try this at home? TIA

If you got the diesel kit it will require removal and partial disassembly of the trans to install the entire kit. While I have been using TransGo products for near 30 years and endorse them, if the trans is going to come out, why not go ahead and do the DTT upgrades and converter install at the same time? Do it once, do it right. You will love the difference the converter makes. I bet there is someone in the Austin area that would let you drive their DTT equipped truck to see the difference. I have done a number of trucks around that area. Maybe a couple will chime in. HTH.

If you are going to upgrade your trans, do a search and do your homework.

Call more than one vender. There is a great company called ATS, out of Denver, which builds bullet-proof transmissions for the Cummins. Their Torque Converter has been tested up to 1700 Ft. Lbs. of torque. In other words it ain't gonna slip under high HP and Torque.

Here is a thread I posted after I got an ATS trans. Clint's # is 800-949-6002
