How hard would it be to replace factory tweeters?

with a pair of component speakers? New to the whole car audio thing, just want a decent set of speakers and a component set (Focal) seems to make sense. Not interested in getting a subwoofer. Has anybody modified the a-pillar to fit an aftermarket tweeter? Thanks for any help!

The tweeters are easy to get to, pull the A piller piece down and the tweeter pulls right out.

I took my tweeter out and put a air psi gage in there:)

Yes, I've got a replacement a pillar with gauges, but wondering if I can put an aftermarket tweeter in the factory location? Looking at a set of component speakers, and would want to put the mid in the door, and tweeter where the factory infinity tweeter is.

I replaced the factory tweeter with the tweeter from my separates.

To hold the tweeter on both sides I mounted it to some of that perforated metal strap stuff that comes in a roll, the stuff you could use to hang exhaust. I used about 3 to 4 inches of the stuff per side.

On the passenger side the strap it is held in by the grab handle bolt. I had to break off the little plastic tweeter holders on the back of the grille on that side.

On the driver side the strap is held in on the back of one of my gauges. Tweeter fits fine on the gauge pod apillar cover, didn't have to snap off tweeter clips.

Hope this helps, you should have no problem if you can get ahold of that metal stuff.

Here is an older post I made that should help you out with doing the wiring without having to run new wire up to the tweeter. I left the crossovers in the door doing it this way.

Good luck,

Nate
