My truck is fairly warm by the time I get to work (12 miles) but it's not hot or anything. I put some cardboard behind the grilled. Helped a bit, but not much.

I believe my truck should be as comfortable as my home, I also hate long sleeve shirts and sweaters. I am in the Adirondack Mts of NY. 30 below and more is expected. My 03 Ram is T Shirt Comfortable all winter. No winter front, nothing speical. But I do plug it in when done using it each day. The block heater runs all night. In the morning a short warm up with the Jake Brake on is all it takes for warm comfort in a T Shirt. Hollar real loud at your dealer to fix your heater.

You should get some good heat out of it, or there is something wrong. When its very cold out, it takes longer to warm up all that iron, but it will still heat up.

I was driving home from Sioux city a few nights ago (-8F) with the heater cranked and blowing on the floor (not recirc) and after about 20 miles I had to open up one of the rear windows to cool it off a bit. Reason I didn't turn the heat down was I wanted to melt the ice that had built up on the floor mats and to dry them out! :D

It had to be over 85F in the cab. :--)

Anyway, I am glad that it has warmed up a bit from earlyer this week. I have to make another run up to Sioux city today. . and 41 for a high sounds a lot better than 10 or 15!

mine is also very slow at heating up [and now it seems when it is good and cold outside, the vent position door won't move to defrost :(] on my drive from work when i can't plug in, on a cold morning, the temp gauge will not move off the low end peg. i need to make another guard to block off the air to the intercooler and see if that helps warm things up a little quicker [already have the rad blocked off] i wish i had heated seats, but the cheapo heated/massage seat pad i got works ok. i don't like sitting on it, but it does make for a more pleasent drive home when the seatpad heats up within 5 minutes

Heater not Heating Up

Was this during that cold snap we had when it was -13 in Denver? I had my block heater on and the truck still did not heat up after 14 miles of highway driving. It threw warm air but, with outside temps that cold even my old 88 Volvo wagon did not do well the next night when it was -9. I am sure your dealer could give you advice for extreme cold operation of your truck, but if you live in the area you were travelling our temps went back up. It was 23 degrees last night and my drive to work was very warm. I had to kick the driver side temp back. Hope you figure your problem out, if it is actually a problem. Good Luck!

If your engine temp is up, or at least not sitting on the peg, you should have sufficient heat to warm the cab no matter what the outside temperature. I regularly run at -40 and am only at half heat setting and middle position on the fan, comfortable with no jacket, just shirtsleeves! I'd be getting the heater doors checked out if there's engine heat. ~Arctic~

Hi Arctic: In Canada, the metric is standard. So is your -40 C or F ? ;)

I think I'm going to take mine in, as I drive a Freightliner with a MBE 4000-450, and this thing will drive you out in a few minutes running (Was -16* last week). And this thing is a 14. 8L engine!
