Anyone know how long the 5. 9L version of the '07 will be available to order?

On the Dodge website, there isn't even a selection for the 6. 7L engine still. Shows only 5. 9L as the only available selection.

I need to order up a new one, but I want the 5. 9L.

I thought all trucks built after Jan 1 2007 needed to be the 6. 7L to pass the emissions requirements - but here we are at Jan 31, and no 6. 7L option to be found.

When I was at the dealer today, the 5. 9L is still available for ordering - in fact he couldn't even select a 6. 7L for order.

Anyone know the story?

Thanks,

Shawn

With the slow down in sales... I assume that the 5. 9L will stay in the line up until all the old engines are used up. . The way I understand the new rules... Old design engines can be installed in after 1-07 production vehicles, but all engines built after 1-07 must meet all new standards for emissions... .

I know that in class 7 and 8 trucks they have been stock piling engines for months and will deliver new trucks into the first quarter of the year with old engines... some of the trade journals have said that there are very few sales of the new engines in class 7 and 8 trucks because of the higher costs and upkeep costs of these trucks... .

Every where I've read & heard has said late March or early Spring? I know because of this, last year around the Summer months there was a lot of speculation that a diesel Dodge would not be availible for purchase new for a period of a few months. Looks like with the economy slightly down and a huge supply of '06 and early '07 5. 9 trucks around there is hardly a problem getting a new truck.

Went to pick up my 06 tuesday and was shocked to see a 07 2500 with a 5. 9 just rolling in.

I rushed to get a 06 leftover so i wouldnt have to mess with the new and improved model.

So if they're still installing the 5. 9, does it mean it still comes with the same Dodge RE48 or could it be had with the new 68RFE? If that could be the case, talk about a rare and highly desirable Dodge Cummins.

False alarm... .

Dealer called me back today - in fact the 5. 9L is NO LONGER available for ordering. He was caught off guard too.

6. 7L is the only option in diesel if you choose to order a truck.

I gotta get me a 5. 9L fast now... .

In middle December I was at dealer about 4 hours searching and closing deal on my 06 Reg Cab 5. 9 'cuz I'd been turned down trying to order same in a 07. Dealer sold two more over the phone sight unseen while I was there. Also said Cummins employee's and anybody who knew anything about 5. 9's and the change over were emptying their wallets to shop the remaining 5. 9's still on the lots just like I was doing.
