Battery Life

I am envious of anyone who gets more than 2 years out of OEM batteries. Mine lasted 18 months, almost to the day. I replaced them with Optimas, which have been OK since 12/97. Arizona heat just kills batteries. Maintenance free batteries are the worst.

bought truck 01//01/99.

Set # 1 replaced under warranty before 02/00

Lasted until last week. Replaced with NAPA batteries.

Summer heat is tough on them here.

I've rarely had batteries in anything last through 3 full summers here.

 south florida heat just kills batteries, my 99's lasted two years:mad: about the same for my old truck (full size Jimmy)

has anyone had better luck in hot climates?

does anyone know of any more dry cell batteries on the market except for optima? Dry cell is the only one that will last out here in AZ

I do not know what the dry cell or optima batteries cost (heard they are pricey), but the heavy duty NAPA batteries are about $80 ea and should last 3 years or so (Giver or take) being abused here in the heat and offroad.

The other types would have to last quite abit longer to offset the costs of those type of batteries. Unless the costs are not as bad I think
