How long do Billstien shocks last?

How long do Billstien shocks last? My tire guy said to expect 70K but I have to travel down a freeway where the expansion joints are the same length as the wheel base. This causes the truck to bounce no matter what speed I run. (Although it is much worse at some speeds. ) The shocks seem to be getting a little soft. I only get 30K miles from the OEM's. I am coming up at about 40K for the Billstiens.

The ones I put on my 94 3500 have lasted a month already! Of course my 2001 Tundra came with them as part of the TRD package, and they're almost a year old now with no change in handling. I've heard of 100,000 on them with no problems.

I have 100K plus on my Bilstiens that replaced the Monroes (only tried them for 3K, anyone need some Monroes?) which replaced the OE shocks after 18K.



139K on the truck. The Bilsteins eliminated the boncing with a far superior rebound circuit in the shock. I beleive Bilstein considers the shock bad if you can conpress the shock to within 0. 75 inches of complete travel, something about the nitrogen gas pressure will have been depleted if you can compress to that length.



You should easily get 40K (probably more like 100K) if you stood up to the OE shocks for 30K. Texas has terrible roads in the Houston area.

It look slike I should figure out some testing to determine if I have some have gone bad. A harmonic bounce is about the worst thing you can do to a shock. It tends to over heat them really fast.

Try I-10 from Rayne,LA to Orange,TX and back at 32k gross. Gotta rebuild the front end every year.
