odd rat-a-tat chattering sound... transmission area?

I sent in an oil sample on the 13th or 14th of September, and haven't heard anything from OAI. I also sent them an email on the 28th, and haven't got a reply to that either. Are they usually this slow? This is my first analysis.

First oil sample I sent in took over 30 days cause the post office treated it like Haz-waste, even though it was in an US postal approved shipping container like they wanted. I was down right  #@$%! at them.

Now I just put it the cantainer like always and then put that into a small cardboard box with shredded paper around the tipple sealed oil container and just send it.

Send it on Friday from Oregon to BlackStone Labs in Fort Wayne, Indiana and I have my results usually by Monday night or Tuesday of the next week.

I just label the box to Blackstone and leave the Laboratories off. Works very well now. :D

Blackstone will email your results if you fill in the email address blank on the little sheet you send in with the sample. They also send a paper copy about 4-5 days later.

I've had great luck with Blackstone. Results are always given to me within 1 day of UPS delivering my package.

My air filter seems to be working well, 4ppm silicon!

Last year I went to a new Speedco that opened near me, because they use Rotella-T as their shop oil. They do an analysis while you wait for your oil change and lube, I don't remember how much they charge 'cause I can't find any receipts, just my analysis sheets. A recent one showed high silicone, and I found my inlet hose to the turbo had an open kink where it is attached.

I like Speedco--they always take you right in (4 bays here) and don't mind that it is a pickup in a over the road lube shop. They have you come out from the waiting room and have you witness that the drain plug is torqued while you watch. They are open late at night. I think they are mostly in the East, but I don't know about the Mountain states. They have Baldwin filters on the shelf, so I always bring a Fleetguard to be installed. The only bad thing... their coffee isn't that good late at night just before they close!
