Competition How Long Is To Long On Egt

With my setup I can peg 1600 almost back to 0 how long or should I say how long is it safe to peg EGTS in a drag race which hasd no room to cruise after heat or highway when racing top speed where you can let off and cruise to cool the engine easier any suggestions

I have over 100 runs down the track with the 1600 degree gauge buried. I know a lot of others also. 14 to 15 secs at a time. I do raise the hood to help out after each run. I am sure it shortens the life expectancy, but at 500 hp if you wanna play you got to pay. I personally dont worry about it.
