Just filled my truck up today with the amsoil 15w-40 HDDM and slapped on a hastings filter. I was wondering if any of you TDR veterans would know how long could i go between oil changes? I was going 5k between the 15w-40 Rotella with no problems. This with 90% commuting and pleasure driving and 10% towing. Don't get me wrong, it's always a pleasure driving my CTD:D Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

My last change with amsoil was at 7000 miles. Oil analysis guys said to go to 9000 miles next time.

I am using a bypass filter though.

15 to 20 No Problem!

I ran two 25K drain intervals with the 15W40 and just fleetguard filters (no bypass). Winter and summer miles, lots of hard pulling and daily driving. I changed the oil filter every 6K with new and 1 quart oil. Dumped everything at 24 - 26K. Even at those miles the analysis came back good to continue use.

You might run a better full flow filter (Fleetguard Statapore or Amsoil) it you are going to extend drain.

I would try to grab a sample every 10K just to know what is going on (antifreeze, leaky injector, K&N letting dirt in).

Right Now I have 38K on the oil in my truck. I am running the AmsOil bypass set up. I change the full flow filter (AmsOil) every 7. 5K & the bypass 15K. I take samples every filter change. I will probibly change the oil at 50K because I want to try the Seri 3000 5W/30 oil.

The sampling is the key to extended intervals

I went 20,000 miles easily without bypass filtration on my last change. Just 3 Fleetquard Stratapore filters, and the sample results said I had lots of miles of life left in the oil.

Going for 30,000 on this change

I love not having to change oil so often!

I am at 52,000 miles on Series 3000 5W30. I have no bypass filtration, and use Fleetguard filters. I change filters and sample every 10,000.

A co-worker currently is running the HD 15W40 with dual bypass and is at 105,000 miles. Samples are takes at 10,000 on his truck also. All samples so far have come back fine.

I have 300,000 miles on the original oil and filter.

No not really I change every 15,000 on series 3000 5w30. I might start taking samples ang going longer intervals.

I generally use Oil analysers inc. My Amsoil dealer sells the kits for around $13. 00. I have used Blackstone and another one that I can't think of right now just to cross check the numbers. (I would send one to Oil Analyzer and Blackstone at the same time and compare etc. ) I have found the numbers to be very comparable between all three of the labs I have used.

I have about 50,000 miles on my Series 3000 5W30. I sample every 7000 miles and change the filter(Amsoil- no bypass). I seldem have to add any oil between filter changes. My oil anaylsis comes back with numbers comparable to new oil. Who knows how long before I need to change. The cost savings have realy become apparent the longer I go on this oil, plus I think Amsoil is a superior oil.
