How loud is a straightpiped '03?

We helped Latenight 6 Straight pipe his '05. I didn't think it made to much change, He had a Bullydog 6" Straight thru muffler on it. It's LOUD in the Garage I had to leave before He drove it in a fly by. Moose

I love my 4" SP. I get a lot of positive reactions from people. Even driving through Oakland, I get compliments from locals. I want to get 5" or 6" stacks soon, but I heard cops are being real sticklers on diesel pickups.

Ok here's what I have to say.



Yes I have a straight piped 03. Since 03's dont have a cat/resonator it really is straight pipe. It is much louder at WOT then my 2 other 24V were. Under normal crusing and daily driving it is just fine as far as sound goes. I like it and so do my friends since Ive always had straight piped CTD's.



Now as far as WOT throttle... Yes its lound, especially between 2200-2600 rpm at WOT. Its almost like a barking hard hitting noise and yes I like it when I want to show off. Its fun to do under overpasses adn tunnels. I live in a neighborhood and havent had any complaints or problems with the law. I wouldnt reccomend going WOT next to a cop though.



At first I was like "wow I need to get a muffler under this truck" after I left the exhaust shop but now I like it.

I put about 40k on my truck with it straight piped. Took it off and put the muffler back on earlier this year when I got into a ******* match with some neighbors. I think its time for it to go back on though, to quiet now.

BTW mine has a 4" downpipe to 5" after the 1st bend in the DP wit 5" all the way back to dual stacks. It wasn't too bad like this but it got louder and deeper when I put the B1-04 on it! (almost too loud )

My 05 is straight piped all the way. No cat, i got rid of that crap. Anyway i love that sound. Its loud and people who aren't really into diesels don't like it and older people don't either. Plus here in az people drive so bad and when somebody pisses you off that hear a ctd straight pipe at WOT right by there window. If i didn't like loud and somebody did that to me, oh man would i be pist. I actually had my wife do that to me when i was driving our little car cause i wanted to know what i was putting people through. Oh man did it sound good. If you like loud i would recommend doing it cause its so cool.

I had a straight pipe on my 04. 5 for a little while, loved how it sounded in town but after towing in the mountains, the drone was loud enough to put the muffler back on. I'd still like something in between but would need to listen to it first.
