I've got a '98 12 valver. LOVE THIS TRUCK! Of course, I want more power, and soon, I'll probably want a bigger Ram! If I could talk the wife into a '98 12 Valve 3500 4x4 QC, I'd do it! Don't really need the dually, I just like them! But, she says I have to be happy with the 2500 for now. I keep myself happy with it by buying new toys every few weeks or so!

Man am I ever lucky, I have one also. Had a brand new 24v loaded right up that they were trying to sell me when I got my truck (Dec 22 1998), but I kinda liked the 12v. Glad I got this one, it is awesome. Nobody else wanted it, but I sure did. #ad

The stock HP on the '98 12 Valves with the manual transmission is 215 as far as I know. That is what mine is anyway and I have not heard of anything different. My truck has 67k+ miles and running strong. #ad

I also have the '98 12-valve with the 5-speed. The only trouble I've had are fuel gage senders (surprise!) and extension housing seals (3 of them) that finally lead to a new transfer case. Truck is still at stock power but I have a 230/605 plate to put in it this spring. 43000 miles

98 2500 4x4 QC auto "one of the last 12 valvers- late Dec 1997" 305 70 16, K&N ,260/608 torque plate,EGT and Boost gauge under ashtray. Bought a spray can of CAT-BE-GONE. Ring removed- Whats next folks????
 
I love mine! I totalled a '01 24V in Dec and the insurance was ready to get me a new one but I went with a good used '98 12V instead. Its by far the best and most fun truck I've ever owned.

I ordered mine in Sept. (dealer was dying to sell me an auto, but I wouldnt hear of it)
Picked it up one day after my birthday,Dec 19th. Best birthday present I ever gave myself.
Mine was made in St Louis. About 4 or 5 fuel senders so far, OK paint, good/excellent body fit. I love this truck!! #ad

98 Quad cab 4X4 2500 12 valve,5 speed,3. 54 rears, 8' bed. Michelin 275 75 16 lr-E. Boost and egt gauges but basicly stock except for a "properly adjusted" AFC. Cat in the garage. Uniden HR 2510, Texas Star 1200 amp. 63,000 Mi as of 1/27/01.
NRA life member. High power/IDPA.
 
I bought mine 12/26/97 and am very happy I didn't wait for the 24V. 40k miles, still stock, still on original brakes, 2nd fuel gauge sender, 2nd NV4500 after the 1st one puked out it's gear lube when the tail shaft seal failed. Best truck I've I ever had.

By far the best truck I ever owned. Has 65,000 and runs better every day. Only problems are 2 fuel guage sending units and an axle seal and pinion seal.

My rear pinion seal is leaking also with just over 67k on the truck. I wonder what the deal is. I also have the fuel sender problem. One of these weekends I need to pull it out and do the fix on it. I will not even try buying a new one since it will just go bad too it looks like. I am not looking forward to the pinion seal fix since I don't even have a 450-500 lb torque wrench. Not sure how I'm going to do that one. May have to find someone who has a wrench I guess.
