How many of you guys bought the extended warranty and how much $$$ did they charge?

I bought the 7/100,000 ADDED CARE PLUS warranty for my new '07,5. 9, G56, 4X4 and the guy told me I had $50. 00 deductable. I paid $2900. I got the paper work from Dodge and it said I have $100. deductable. Called Dodge and they said I had to call the dealer. They told me there isn't $50. 00 for the diesels AND that the finance guy didn't charge me for the DIESEL extended but for the GASSER warranty. Dodge DID list me for a diesel warranty because of the VIN #. I told the deasler that I bought it from that I AM going to have a $50. 00 deductable and that I signed the application to prove it.

WHAT A DOG AND PONY SHOW it has been dealing with Swift Dodge in Sacramento CA. !!!

Unfortunately, they have a large supply of '07, 5. 9's.

SO... of you guys that bought the extended warranty, was it more than $2900. ?

My extended warranty was about $800, which was a little less then half price. It is highly negotiable you know.

They still keep sending me those darn extened warranties in the mail... . ! I still keep trashing them enstantly. My rig is going on 90,000 and it runs better now . Like a fine wine , it has inproved with age. All miles trouble free. My 93' nissan is still running . never did use those extended warranties i bought.

I paid $2000 for the 7 year 100k $100 ded. I have not used it yet, but it's worth every penny I paid for it. The Dodge extended warranty also provides additional bennys when the truck is in warranty like free loaner vehice.

And depending on the dealer, they will find any excuse to void your warranty... even if you have done nothing to the truck.

At one time (several years ago) they were worthwhile, but now that the dealers have become paranoid about modifications, it is very hard to get work done. I would not waste the $$ on an extended warranty because dodge always finds some excuse to attempt to deny the work.

I paid 1400 for 7 year 100,000 mile,100. 00 ded. I like the peace of mind thru my payments that if sumthin breaks I will not have to break the bank to fix it. Have not used it on my truck yet but on my wifes Caravan the extended warranty has more then paid for itself. The water pump replacement alone in her van would of been 950. 00 as it takes a whole lot of time to get to it. Never been denied coverage on a Chrysler extended warranty but then I guess it depends on the people you deal with at that dealership. Plus on the times we have had her van in for repair we got a rental paid for making life a lot easier. Heck it breaks down to 1. 80 a day for the coverage over the 7 years.

I have the 3/100 on my 06 and it was 2000 with the 100 deductable. I think it was worth while to get. they just replaced the mulitfunction switch and both tierod ends and i had a loaner for 5 day and put 1300 miles on it. so I'm glad i have it.

Kinda looks like I paid more than most... ...

I complained about the crappy way I was treated on the sale and they GAVE me a 2 year full diesel service. That amounts to 4 services and oil changes.

I have been running diesel pick ups since Ford went with the 6. 9 Inter. in 1983 through the Powerstroke 7. 3's in 95 and 97 that we are still running, along with the 04. 5 Dodge 3500. I have never had an instance where an extended warranty would have help me. Any problems have always been past the 100,000 mark in which case I call rountine maintenance alts, water pumps, vacumn pumps ect. (knock on wood no motor or trans problems). I have always turned down the extended warranty offers and have been a happy camper.

I turn down the extended warranties on everything. It was way too expensive. I also know that I can get it anytime before 36K, then it will be a negotiation about the price.

CD

It is a crap shoot as to whether you need it or not. An Elder friend of mine DID buy it for his '02 4x4 Automatic and he got his monies worth. His truck is stock. His injection pump died and later down the road his trans went belly up.

Extended warranty means taking a bet with Dodge that they will never spend the cost of the warranty on your rig - a bet for which they have lots of statistics. We have none of the statistics except we know that they will make money at the current price, which means the buyer loses money.

In the future, take the $2900 and put it in an investment account. When you need to fix the CTD you'll have the original $2900 plus, or (don't tell the wife) it might become bombing capital.

Bought it for my 94 and got 7 trannys out of it. Thats right 7. Got one for my 06 also. Pay about half of what there first pitch is on cost. If you dont use it that means you have a great truck. But you will end up using it for sure.

Max care 7/70 0 deduct... ..... no worries,I know what parts cost ;) at about 1/3 the cost of origional post

I LIKE that idea!! (Don't tell the wife)

paid 1200 100 ded for my 05 3500 so far they have repaired the ac, $600, and replaced the turbo $$$$$$$$$$$ free rental car both times.

I bought the extended warranty $1200 7 year 100k miles $100 deductable, had all 4 ball joints replaced. NEarly paid for itself right there. I think if you plan on keeping the truck a long time, it is worth the investment

San Diego dealers say no to mods.

Dave Smith Motors where I purchased mine offered me a real comprehensive warranty with total refund on the entire price if I never used it. Problem was, down here in San Diego our dealers will try everything to get out of honoring these agreements. I know a service writer @Hine Dodge who told me before I bought my truck that any mod to the suspension would negate warranty coverage for ball joints, etc. If I lived in the Kellogg,Id area,I would have purchased it.
