Does anyone know what percentage of the 3rd Generation 2500 and 3500 are Cummins equipped? What percentage are two-wheel drive verses four-wheel drive? Is there a web source for this information? Thanks for your input.

About 75-80%. Last numbers from DC were 75% for the last few years of the 2ndGen, and the nums are about the same this year so far. The increased sales of the HO is offset by lower sales of the standard and California engines.

2004 will be the real test - if EGR is added to the HO to make it California legal, Cummins sales could really make a notable gain - conceivably 85%.

So how're the Cummins Rams doing against their Chevy and Ford counterparts? I've heard that Dodge has about 35% of the heavy pickup market, but I dunno what percentage of Chevys and Fords are diesels. Thanks for the info KC!

I can only get my hands on rough numbers, so take these with a slight grain of salt.

I can tell you this: The Ford Super Duty is definitely #1. They sell over 350K of these annually (40% of all F-series). The 'Stroke is somewhere around 60% of Super Duty sales (200K diesels per year), but that is likely to change with the new 6. 0.

The Ram HD is about 35% of all Rams, which puts it at around 140K units. That translates to over 110K Cummins Rams per year.

Chevy/GMC may actually beat the F-series in total units for the first time in decades, thanks to heavy incentives. I don't have their HD or diesel splits though.
