They filled mine to the top, even after I let them know I was going to drain the full tank on my trade in. They said why not, diesel's expensive.

Fuel in new truck.

May 2003 when I purchased my new 2500 HO diesel, it only had enough to

register, I asked about the fuel, were they not going to fill it up? They

advised that they did not do this, I replied, "GM always fills up their vehicles

after each sale. " They filled up my Dodge after I said that.

First of all, I don't claim to be a negotiating genius. I do research I price vehicles out and then I give the dealer the "lets not waste each others time" speech and tell him my final price that I am willing to pay.

If he comes back with anything but the same price, I walk. It's that simple. It hasn't always been that way for me, but I learned a couple of vehicles ago that a truck is just a truck and to not fall in love with it.

Having said that, if my dealer had said:

He told me I got "all there wuz outta this deal" and told me if I insisted on them filling up my truck, he would cancel the deal.

I would have said good luck and walked right now. The MOST it costs to fill these damn trucks even at todays price is $100.

With my truck I mentioned that they shouldn't forget to fill the truck RIGHT after he asked me to remember to fill out the survey. The salesman argued with me for a bit to which I finally said "alright, that's cool but its going on the survey". Tank got filled! :-laf

My dealer filled my tank as a courtesy. They said that the tank had to have at least 10 gallons since that is what was on the sticker and what I was paying for. Anything beyond that was at the dealer's discretion. I guess I got lucky.

me too at Moss Motors in riverside... bought many vehicles from "Teddy Bear" (dont ask ... he is a nice guy and gives a straight deal!!) and all came with a full tank..... MSRP on my beast was 38k out the door AFTER taxes was $31,300. 00!! now it costs that to FILL the tank... lol

My 95 was also filled and when I sold it , I filled it and washed it.
That was //really// nice of you to do that Grizzly. Hatz off to ya. :D

I have purchased 5 vehicles from New Country in Durango, CO and all were delivered with full tanks.

I got a full tank and an extra sentry key. I paid $35k EP for my $42k stickered truck with free business link, I also got KBB retail for my trade, all rebates and 4% financing.

Just picked up a new 06 Commander came with just under 1/2 a tank. I called the dealer and asked him if he forgot to fill it up, and he said they stopped about a year ago, I said WTF that is the least you could do I will mark it on the survey.

Three weeks ago when I bought my truck I drove off the lot with a 1500 Hemi... 400 yards down the highway the fan clutch locked up! #@$%! Dealer offered to fix it and I said NO thanks. Went to the lot and started up the replacement truck they offered and the motor would not stop ticking... I told him he could keep his Hemi powered trucks and go get me a CTD. Naturally I paid the difference in price. After all the paper work was signed the salesman asked for the keys so he could go fill it up. I drove him to the pump and pumped myself... just to be sure there was no argument about how many gallons came with the deal. :D

I was trying to save money and make do with a truck I didn't really want. In the end I got what I wanted and a clear conscience to go with it. My employee price was $36,100 against a $42,200 MSRP (multiply the MSRP by . 855 and you will be close to what the EP price is). I also got the 0% financing which was another $5,000 savings.

By the way, this is a great site! I've been lurking ever since I bought my 2003 CTD three years ago.

20 dollar I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER

don bohn on vets in new orleans gave me a $20 I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER to take to the station around the corner. When I got there they didn't have diesel.

The dealer I had (forgot, some place in IN). I drove 300 miles from detroit to this place. easy sale, picked up hte truck and we went to go fuel it. The sales man says the dealer only pays for hte first $20, I picked up the reast on my own dime.

that was cool. But that was when prices were $1. 30/gallon.

Wasn't quite a full tank, but it was close. Salesman put fuel in it, used the dealers credit card. I was happy, got the truck for $34,000 sticker was $43,995! :D

I got two full tanks from the dealer. The first when I picked up the truck and the second after taking her back in to have Line-X installed in the bed. They had to drive across town to the Line-X dealer and I had only 3/8 tank when I left the truck with them. Oo. John Elway, Southwest Denver.

Thanks for the kind words. I just thought it was the right thing to do since he had to drive it home to Alamosa, CO. and it only cost me $50. 00.

Interesting side note, the young man that bought my truck hauls a big GN trailer to deliver alfalfa. He was previously hauling the alfalfa with a Ford Powerstroke, which was on it's third engine. I spoke to him a few times after he purchased my 95 CTD. He said that the power and the fuel mileage are much better then the Powerstroke. He's happy with it.
