How many grease fittings on 2001.5 2500's?

Howdy all,

Just exactly how many grease fittings are there on the 2001. 5 2500's? I find the two obvious ones on top of the wheel steering joints, and one other in the steering/tie rod linkage on the drivers side of the truck. Are there any others??

That is all I could find on my truck. Seems like there should be more. I am not at home so I can not look in the service manual.

Bill, thanks for confirming what I had thought after reading some other recent posts, including the one you included the link to.

Guess I'll keep those three well greased, and keep my eyes on other places for wear, etc. , and replace as needed.

I find it ironic that the Cummins, which should be considered a "real" truck has only upper king pin zerks and a steering zerk yet our 96 grand cherokee has about 7 zerks. I would expect to find zerks where there are only sealed ball joints. Like others who have posted, when I went to grease the ball joints, it took a hell of a lot of pumps to see grease at the boot. I'm gonna watch these ball joints very close. Which after market ball joints have fittings? what's the cost?

Napa replacement joints have zerks,prices vary widely depending on which one you need,some are part of the bar/rod they are on,the ball joint on the track bar of a 4x4 will set you back about $180. Much cheaper to drill and add zerks before a failure.
