99V-10 to 91 Cummins questions

Looking for heavy-duty manual transmission for F550 5.9 swap in

Just curious if there are any women doing repowers here? I just met a cummins mechanic here in Alabama that was one of the most knowledgeable tech's I've met in a long time. She was driving a Ford F650 service truck with a a pink Cummins and Detroit sticker on the back, along with a tiny bouquet of pink roses painted on the door. Cracked me up, we were picking fun at at the truck's colors since all we could see was a pair of boots sticking out from under a power unit initially. Boy did we feel like royal arse's when she stood up. I've known plenty of female welders, but this was the first time I ever met a female Diesel tech. She mentioned she read this forum from time to time, thought it was alright, but too much testosterone. :D

Just curious if anyone knows the # of female members here, it would be an enlightening poll I bet.

I know of one gal here in AK that is getting ready to do a repower on a 96 F-350. She is a member here. So that is one :D

I'm doing my best to float in here when I can. Being in Iraq makes the connection a little questionable sometimes. CumminsChick, I think I'm about a day drive from you when I'm back in Panama City.

The 82 in my sig, is my soon to be repowered crewcab.

Ben

Ben,

when you get back to Panama City, feel free to visit and use my garage/shop for any repairs you need if the local hobby shop on your base is as useless as the one here. I'm in Montgomery right now, but I'm awaitinig my own orders to cough up some sand. Wish I could say I'm looking forward to it, but I'm happy to say I'm not against it at least. I'm in the USNR (AM rate), hopefully just a cruise across the big blue pond on a carrier this time. I breathed enough desert air last decade.

Thank you for the offer. I should be back there in late January for a few days before I fly up to Iowa to get my 02 back and drive back south. (Dad is truck-sitting again) I will be leaving the 82 up north for now, as I don't have a place to keep it in PC since I live in an appartment.

What time frame do you think you will be coming over to the sand box?

Ben

All I've heard on dates so far is our unit will be selectively augmenting other active duty air wings by summertime. I'd like to get assigned to a carrier group so I can get an ESWS pin. Whenever they ask me though, I'll step up, but I'm not going out of my way to volunteer right away. There's plenty of younger more eager Airmen still with fewer commitments at home than me. Supposedly this next drill period will be offering more specific info since we're entering the next fiscal year etc.

My wife is an ICBM missile officer in the USAF, so you can imagine what our feelings towards forward deployments are. (take it as you will :-laf )

Well, I've done one repower, my Scout and I'm in the middle of doing a repower for my wife on her 54 Willys. She's the engineer, (manufacturing) so I take orders from her.

Steve

I would love to put a 4bt in my Scout but I'm just too poor right now. My wife won't even touch the Scout even though she said she would help me. I think she meant she would help me drive it once it's done! ;)

N. A. V. Y. = Never Again Volunteer Yourself. :)
