How many have "Dodge" emblems on the tailgate?

Actually, I am very pleased with the hitch. The whole thing, including rails, can be removed in a few minutes w/o any tools. If I towed a gooseneck trailer, I would have a gooseneck hitch. It's about having the right tool for the job.

I used fishing line to cut behind the emblem then a hair dryer to get the rest, glue and excess foam stuff what ever that stuff behind the emblem is.

I've got money that says Tim won't own his truck more than 12 months. Seems to favor the Ford truck minus engine. Hasn't had his new ride 2 weeks and already producing infalmmatory remarks about the Dodge part. I could rattle off some insults about the CTD if I wanted (ex. pump, injectors, sluggish rev, etc. ) but what is the point. I love my truck thus far and don't want to just get on the board and bash what a hell of a lot of people are sensitive about.

what's the best way to get the emblems off?

on mine, i used fishing line to saw the badge off, then a pinstripe removing wheel on a drill to take the foam/glue mess off... i did the cummins badges with a hair dryer and they tool like 30min each to do. . i did the rest with the pinstripe removing wheel and i had the rest done in less than 90min...

I took the "heavy duty" and the SLT off my tailgate but left the Dodge and 4X4 on. Would love to replace the Dodge with POWERWAGON if it didnt look too guaggy!!

regarding the lack of Dodge identification on the Ram, just look at a '69 Dodge Charger. I does not say Dodge anywhere at all on the entire car, not even the interior! The only thing you see is the old "delta" triangular emblem in a few places. I used to have one (a '69 R/T-S/E) and it was pointed out to me by a non-car person.

When I pickup up my new 05, the first thing I asked was "where did the DODGE emblems go?" As an old fart, I just happen to be proud to own a DODGE, and want to make sure all those being passed also knows "what passed them"! Since my new 05 looked just like "EVERY OTHER FORD AND CHEVY REAREND", the first thing I did was on to the parts department; ordered the 03-04 DODGE nameplate, and an extra "CUMMINS" plate. Both immediately went on my tailgate! Now when you see the rear end of my truck, there is no mistake that its a DODGE HEAVY DUTY CUMMINS TURBO DIESEL. Choices, Choices!!

I think a few of you should get off Tim's back. I will be the first to say that I thought he was out of line in some previous threads, especially about the G56 holdup, but if anyone is baiting and insulting in this thread it is Grizzly, Hasselback and Qwaller. Just go back and read's Tim's posts on this thread, I certainly don't see anything inflammatory, and certainly not to the point of personally attacking an individual.



I seem to remember a few months back on this very sight there was a poll about why people bought their trucks, i. e. for the cummins, dodge, both, and other reasons. The majority of the responses were for the Cummins. I see posts on this site all the time where people say they would buy the Ford if it had the cummins or that they bought their Dodge truck more for the cummins than because it's dodge, etc. I actually applaud Tim for not responding to the baiting being had in this thread.



I don't see that he ripped anyone for their opinion of liking the fact that the truck is also dodge, he simply stated that HE bought his more for the cummins.



Maybe people should give Tim a chance to have a decent conversation for once instead of rip everything he says.

Having owned all 4 (Dodge Ford Chevy GMC), I have absolutley no problems with owning a Dodge. I gave up on Dodge after owing a 1975 Power Wagon and drove GM & Ford products up until 2000. Bought that Ram for the Cummins, but I can guarantee the quality I've seen is as good as the other brands.



Unless you are talking about that major frame they put under the F-150's.

When I got mine the badges were first to go, I am proud of the Dodge and Cummins but the 3rd gen badges look cheap IMO and don't do the truck justice.

Actually it doesn't say Dodge anywhere on the outside of my truck, thus why I thought it was strange. Tailgate says, "Heavy Duty" "4x4" and "Laramie" just not Dodge.



Fine with me, I didn't want to be reminded I drove a Dodge anyway, it's a Cummins that came with a free Dodge if you ask me.

As I said, I like the fact I drive a Dodge, and do see this as inflammatory. Well for me, had I known about this before hand, I would have gone to another manufacturer. My thought at the time of purchase was "well I can pay all this money because I won't need another for quite sometime, I can grow into it. " Now that does not seem to be the case.

I checked my glove box (stupid me at this point in the game) and it clearly states that I am not to place a slide in camper in my truck. And as to above statements, If a person did use a slide in or other tall loads I would rather take my chances on a Ford or Chevy than not to be able to do what I intended to do with my truck (esp for this sort of money)

Please someone knowledgeable clear this up.

It sounds to me like I would not be buying the Dodge either. I would think warranty claims would be affected if it was known that the truck was improperly equipped ie. had a utility bed on it. I am also quite suprised by the responses on this subject. I was under the impression that this frame was the next best thing to sliced bread. Kind of p*ssess me off actually.

It was not my intent to start something here, basically just to say people need to lighten up. Tim's comment was mild compared to a lot of them on here criticizing dodge. In looking at all of your posts on TDR almost 1 of 3 pages is devoted to personally criticizing Tim. I would venture to guess your post in this thread was more of a chance for you to rip on Tim again than being upset about our beloved Dodge name being forsaken. It sure doesn't look like you should be too upset about that with your posts above.



And by the way, judging from your posts that I quoted above, it looks like you might be the one that won't own the Dodge in 12 months. If you read Tim's other post he was happy as could be with his new Dodge Cummins Truck on his recent trip. Let us all know how the Ford or Chevy frame handles for you when you make the switch... :-laf

I have three Chevys, a Ford, and a brand new Dodge. I love all of them for various reasons, and no pickup has ever impressed me like my Dodge does, I love every minute I'm behind the wheel of it. The first week I owned it, I drove it 2,200 miles. If that doesn't tell you something, I don't know what does.



I'm not going to say anything insulting or inflamitory or even continue to fuel your fire towards me the slightest bit. I love my truck and it's going nowhere. It's fine that it's a Dodge. Nothing on the market is absolutely perfect, but a dark blue Dodge with dark colored leather and a Cummins is as close as it gets, and mine is sleeping peacefully in my garage.



The previous thread (did you buy for Dodge or Cummins, or both) was started by me as well, out of my own curiousity. The majority bought for Cummins, or both. I bought for Cummins and I still love my truck--the "Dodge" part is growing on me more and more, and it was $10,000 cheaper than a GM or Ford, too.

No glass houses here. Nobody said the Dodge is perfect and I have more problems with the German company as owners (DC) than anything. There are definitely some areas/subjects on these trucks that I still feel need some clarification (ex. slide-in camper). And I stand by any comment made about these trucks positive and neg and on any made about any particular members on the site. And no I don't waste the time to go back and review averything someone says on here. Some of us including myself need to get a life.

I think I'll bow out for a while on TDR until I actually need the site, as that is what I originally bought the membership for. Don't feel like researching old material to point fingers with. maybe too lazy OR maybe I don't give a rat's arse! You decide.
