67,000 for mine, but the last two times I changed the fuel filter I had a real hard time getting it bled. So probably more like 47,000 ... . at the time I was still ignorant about the lift pump problems and thought I just was not getting from the key to the filter quickly enough.

Just a thought: Mopar, maybe ya could put together a list of materials, and a general location/routing description of your mods/replacement to the lift pump and see if they would put it in the archive and the quarterly publication. I know they seem to always be looking for material for the mag.

Not every one has included their signature. but a picture is forming of less problems with the 98. 5 lift pump.

What if the switch by DC to the electric pump put enough demand on Federal-Mogul's mfg. capability for them to loosen their quality control and take an "out the door attitude" for their deliver to DC.

Then pump failures started being a pain for DC so they engineered a restriction in the 2001 pump to filter line, hoping to solve the problem.

This scenario also answers why OEM replacements don't last as long as the after market pumps.

Remember this is only what if because I don't know anything!!!

jim , thats an interesting scenerio , i don't think the problem is with FM , the pump is failing because of DC's choice of placement .

also the restriction you speak of started in 2000 with the filter housing change , can't imagine how reduding volume would help other than the fact that the lift pump could be pumping more than the filter can flow , which is now my next hurdle .

ram cowboy and bent6 , care to measure your fuel pressures and post the results , also what mods if any ????

11,850 on mine, no problem yet--seems if it lasts past 7000 miles it might last for a while. But when it goes, the Mallory Comp 140 will replace it back at the tank.

semi , mine was working ok i guess , did notice that it did start a bit easier after replcement , they changed it out because the service action told them to .

54,000 for mine. I ran out of fuel (my stupidity) and it took 2 hours to get it to pick up again. I also had a lot of trouble getting it to fire after my last fuel filter change. My dealer checked and replaced it under the 70K emisions warranty.
